Tonight is the season finale of Revolution, a sci-fi TV series set in a future where all electricity has been turned off and no one knows how to turn the power back on, thus throwing the world we know into chaos. The series is created by Star Wars: Episode VI director J.J. Abrams and produced by Iron Man 1 director Jon Favreau. Unlike most post-apocalypse where everything is bleak and grim, Revolution takes a more fun and adventurous approach, yet still has a dark side at times. The series starts with a relatively small scale, while the second half is bigger and explores some things setup in the first half. In typical Abrams fashion, the show takes its time in revealing any of the major secrets. While Revolution is not the best show on TV, it is entertaining and has likeable characters that the series worth watching for sci-fi fans. *Possible Spoiler* My crazy theory is that Miles is Charlie's father. If you watch the show, discuss some spoilers below. *End Spoiler* Have you seen the series? Does it interest you? Please comment below. Tomorrow is a slight schedule chance, due to the breaking news of Matt Smith leaving Doctor Who, I have something about who could be the new Doctor.

MY parents and I watch this regularly, and while it's not our most favorite, we do quite enjoy it. That's actually a great guess... and you're probably right about that. I hadn't thought of it before.
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched this show, but I have heard about it and seen trailers for it on TV and it does look like a good science fiction show :).

ReplyDeleteI saw the trailer for this a while ago, and then I watched the first couple episodes but then never got back around to it. Maybe I'll give it another shot since you said it's more developed during the second half.
ReplyDeletePersonally, these types of shows scare me more then horror films for some reason. The very idea of just losing all power is really scary because it's so realistic! This is more likely to happen then monsters suddenly appearing in your home! lol!

I've had the same thought about Miles for a good while. It's not even close to my favorite show but it's watchable for the most part.
ReplyDeleteNice little twist there at the end of the finale, dark but kind of cool.
ReplyDelete@Alana: Same here. Too bad they did not say anything in the finale, maybe next season.
ReplyDelete@Shena Tokala: You would probably enjoy it, maybe it will be on Amazon Prime soon. :)
@Jamie: It gets much better later in the series.
I know, you have no idea how terrifying it is. I actually had a nightmare that it did happen, no joke.
@Daniel: *Spoiler* Agreed, I did not expect them to take that route. Hopefully they will explain more in the next season.

Very accurate summation of this series. I have been an on again off again viewer. The last handful of episodes have been terrific TV. By default its the best Sci Fi on the small screen. Is that not a sad state of affairs.
ReplyDelete@Steve: Thank you, and yes it has gotten much better of late. While it is the best sci-fi show on Network TV, Doctor Who is far superior and best sci-fi series and Continuum is about equal with Revolution.
