The Avengers Soundtrack and More.

As suggested by JT/King Valun at The Window on the South, it probably would not be a great idea to post The Avengers soundtrack because the names of the tracks might spoiler important plot points but I have found away around that. Above I have posted the first of The Avengers soundtrack, it does not have a name could spoil the movie but if it works right it should a play list. So if you start the first video it should continue to the next without you haveing to do anything other than do not exit off your current browser tab.

Below are various soundtracks from The Avengers movies.

Here is the theme song for The Avengers TV series. I normally do not like this genre of music but I think I works really well in this song.

I hope everyone enjoy the music.

Joss Whedon Director of The Avengers.

If you do not already know, Joss Wheldon directed the soon to be released Avengers movie. Although I have not seen many of the movies or TV series that he has worked on but they are very popular like Firefly, which I have not seen many episodes. But the reason I think he is going to be great at directing it is because he writes comic books. He is the only director I know that has directed a comic book movie and has written comic books. Some might not think that is a good enough reason to think he will do great but that means that he know how to write comic book characters and stay true enough to the comic book story line. Also Whedon is known for having strong female characters in his movies and TV series so I expect that Black Widow will be getting more development, which fans of her will like. The only thing that seems unsetling, is that Whedon has cut The Avengers from a 3 hour movie to a 2 hour movie.

Here are parts of interviews with Joss Whedon. For some reason the videos only parts of the interview and not the full interview but I guess the full interview might be on the Blu-Ray or something.

Avengers Assemble Week! And New Header!

Avengers Will Assemble in One Week!
But those lucky British will see it almost a week before we do! And it was pre-screened on April 11! The Avengers is the event of the Summer. Even if you have not seen the other movie connected with The Avengers you should go see The Avengers in theaters. Early reviews suggest that it is even better than it looks. Many people are saying that it is the best comic book movie ever! Even better than The Dark Knight. The is an amazing feat considering the crazy fan base of The Dark Knight.
What does everyone think about the new header for Avengers Week?
Also thank you everyone for all the positive comments on my Blogoversary post.

One Year Blogoversary!

One Year Blogoversary!
I cannot belivie it has been one year since I started blogging. This is my 397th post and I have 48 followers!
My original idea for this blog was to promote my YouTube channel but that all changed when I reviewed my first movie, Inception, a little more than a month after starting the blog. After that I had a few more followers. I began to write more reviews and I could not stop. I became obsessed with watching and reviewing movies. I was also surprised by how many other Star Wars fans, homeschoolers, Christians, Lord of the Rings fans, and fans of other things that I liked were on Blogger. Also I think I am the one of the only Bloggers that does not write stories of some kind.
Thank you my followers for commenting and keeping me blogging!

Answers to Interview Questions Part 1.

I will be posting the answers in two different parts. Also tomorrow is my One Year Blogoversary! So be sure to check back here for that.

1. Have you ever thought of traveling? Where would you want to visit---famous museums, nature, ect?
Maybe a African Safari and Hunting trip would cool. Also a trip to the Baseball Hall of Fame would be great.

2. What are your overall thoughts and opinions on SW's expanded universe?
I really did not have much of an opinion until I played Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic. After that I was fully in favor of the EU. I love the books Heir to the Empire and Darth Plagueis. If it is considerd the offical cannon I am all for it.

3. Are you up for more Indiana Jones movies or not?
Since I know that there is already going to be another Indy movie, I really do not have choice. But if it is done right it could be a good idea.

4. What is one of the big things you like about Steve Rogers/Captain America, the man, as in a character trait and why?
That is a very hard question. He embodies what the ultimate America should be yet he is still flawed enough to be relate able. Captain America is not over powered and will do what is necessary during times of war unlike heroes like Batman or Superman, who refuse to kill.

5. Are you planning on seeing The Avengers on opening night?
Unfortunately not, hopefully I will see it the following Monday.

6. Who are your favorite blogs to visit?
There are a lot of blogs I visit often but here are a few of the ones I visit the most often since they post the most often but I also visit just about every blog that I follow. So these are just a few of the ones I visit.

Through Two Blue Eyes
Jedi Filmaker
Just me... (my real life best friend's blog)
Pandas, Lightsabers and Cameras, oh my!!
 Prophets of the Force
Pens, Thespians, and Words
 The Window on the South
Thoughts of a Dude and a Dudess
Password to Middle Earth

7. What random story would you be interested in seeing in film form?
I could write an entire post about that and I probably will. But here are just a few.
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic
Skyrim: This could be the next Lord of the Rings if done right.
Halo: Halo would make the perfect Sci-Fi War movie.
Just to name a few.

Questions from Edessa at HoloNet Entertainment Daily

1. If you could remake any film, what would it be and why? Since I really would want a remake to ruin a franchise but I think a Back to the Future would work since we are coming up on the year 2015. It would be the perfect timing, although trying to replace Doc Brown and Marty would be near impossible.

2. What do you think about Lucas converting "Star Wars" into 3D?
I do not think it is a bad idea but I did not see Episode 1 in 3D. I will probably go see The Empire Strikes Back in 3D since it is the best movie ever.

3. If you could visit any film set, what would it be and why?
If I could visit a a film set in the past it would be the set of the original 1977 Star Wars. If I had to choose one that is currently filming it would be The Hobbit.

4. Who is your favorite film director?
Geogre Lucas, Peter Jackson and Steve Spielberg. They have made many of my favorite movies.

If there are more questions please ask and I will answer them in a future post.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire Review.

If you have not read my review for the movie I posted yesterday please click on this link and comment War Horse Review. Also I will hopefully post some of the answers to the questions in the recent "Interview Me" post tomorrow.
Note: I think that my e-mail might not be working correctly so sorry if I have not reply recently.

Warning Spoilers highlighted in Red.

Thoughts: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire was a little disappointing. It is had some issues with the pacing and an unnecessary sub plot. It started good because it did not open with Harry's annoying adopted family since he does not live there any more. I expected it to be better since it was the first Harry Potter movie to be rated PG-13 but it was not as good as the Prisoner of Azkaban. While it was not as dark as the other one some of the characters acted out of character and the plot was not as interesting. It started decent but again a little slow. Basically the plot is about Harry compeating in the Triwizard Tournament so I expected there a lot of focus on the Tournament. It was going good after the first competing in the Tournament but about an hour into the movie it added a boring School dance. I was thinking "How did a dumb High School drama get put in an fantasy adventure!?" I know that they are now teenagers but it was really unnecessary. It was very awkward and did not fit the other parts of the movie. It was almost like a romantic comedy at some parts. I know it was in the book  Also the character but could have been cut to a 10 or 15 minute part and not wast 30 minutes. Ron Weasley really acted out of character. Although there really some really good parts to the movie that showed the potential of the franchise. The last 30 minutes of the movie was much better than the other parts. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire felt like a filler movie Warning Spoiler: to resurrect Lord Voldemort for the sequels but that was by far the part of the movie. The maze near end and duel between Harry and Voldemort were the best parts. Also some scenes had a little dialogue corny. Despite these issues there were some good things in the movie. The special effects were great especially for a movie made in 2005. The effects were better than some I have seen in an 2008 movie. It also had more action than the previous movies but that really is not saying since the other three are not action movies. There was again a decent mystery component but it was not really difficult to figure out compared to the Prisoner of Azkaban. While the Prisoner of Azkaban was a movie that could appeal to most demographics (age group) yet the Goblet of Fire was aimed more at the young teen demographic than a movie that is appealing to any demographic.

Directed by: Mike Newell
Genre: Fantasy, Adventure,
Release Date: November 18, 2005 (2005-11-18)
Running Time: 157 minutes
MMPA rating: PG-13

The Good: Some parts of the movie were very good , Good ending,

The Bad: Unbalanced, Unnecessary subplot,

Plot: The following plot summery is copied from Wikipedia.com.
Harry Potter dreams of an elderly man, Frank Bryce, who overhears Lord Voldemort discussing plans with Peter Pettigrew and Barty Crouch Jr. Bryce is then killed by Voldemort. The Quidditch World Cup allows Harry to take his mind off his nightmares until followers of Voldemort known as Death Eaters terrorise the spectators' campsites after the match.
At Hogwarts, headmaster Albus Dumbledore introduces Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody as the new Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher, unaware that Crouch Jr has subdued Moody and is using Polyjuice Potion to impersonate him. In their first Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson, the students learn of the three Unforgivable Curses. The Imperius Curse causes absence of free will, the Cruciatus Curse causes unbearable pain, and the final curse, Avada Kedavra, causes death. Dumbledore announces that the school will host the Triwizard Tournament, in which one wizard from each of the three magical schools competes in three challenges. The champions are selected by the Goblet of Fire, a magical cup into which the candidates' names are placed. Cedric Diggory, a student from the House of Hufflepuff, is chosen to represent Hogwarts, Viktor Krum is chosen to represent Durmstrang Institute, and Fleur Delacour is selected to represent Beauxbatons Academy of Magic. The Goblet unexpectedly chooses a fourth champion: Harry. As Harry is underage and should have been ineligible to compete, Hogwarts teachers and students grow suspicious, and the feat drives Ron and Harry apart. The teachers want Dumbledore to pull Harry out of the tournament, but the four champions are bound by a magical contract and therefore Dumbledore has no choice and Harry must compete. Watch the movie to see what happens next.

Plot: 7.1/10- The plot was mixed with some unnecessary plot threads and not enough focus on the Triwizard Tournament. But the end was really the only important part of the movie.

Action: 6.9/10- This is the first Harry Potter movie to have a prolonged action scene and it showed the potential of the action the Harry Potter franchise can deliver. But I wished it show the other competiors in the Triwizard Tournament in the first test, which would have made great scenes.

Acting: 7.5/10- While I do not think it is the falt of the actors but more of the director and writers the acting was not as good the Prisoner of Azkaban mostly because the dialouge was not as well written yet the acting was still very good.

Special effects: 8.4/10- The special effects were really good and hold up very today.

Soundtrack: 8.0/10- The soundtrack was very good and used many of the same notes that John Williams used in the previous movies but the lack of Williams is definitely noticable.

Comedy: 7.8/10- The Goblet of Fire did have a lot of humor yet some of the humor fell flat into bad romantic comedy.

Would I Watch This Again: I might at some point but not really any time soon.

Overall: 7.0/10- Overall Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is a good movie but was not takken seriously enough with some odd character changes and odd moments. Although it was still a funny movie.

Closing comments: While the Harry Potter franchise took two steps forward with Prisoner of Azkaban it took one step back with the Goblet of Fire.

War Horse Review.

Thoughts: Steven had a lot riding on War Horse. Did it live up to the hype? Definitely not. It is one of the most disappointing movies of 2011. War Horse is not by any means a bad movie, it is just a decent movie. Some critics were claiming that it was an "Emotional Journey" but you never really cared what happened to the characters. The trailer was very misleading, it appears that the movie is about the boy and his horse and it makes it seem that Tom Hiddleston is actually in the movie more than 10 minutes. I assume that the movie can appeal to horse movie fans since they might correct to the horse character. After almost an hour about who you would think is the main character Albert Narracott and his horse Joey. War Horse starts out good and builds the story but soon as you almost start liking the character it switches to different characters, who are played by Tom Hiddleston (also known as Loki from Thor) and Benedict Cumberbatch (who play Sherlock in the recent TV series). They are two of my favorite actors but their part is only about 10, 15 minutes at the most. It was probably the best part of the movie but it was still not great. Around that point in the movie there was one good, yet short, battle scene. Only a few of characters are interesting and the acting is only average. The movie it's self is not boring but there is almost nothing in War Horse that makes it seem like anything special or original. Everything looked authentic and most of the cinematography was good, except the ending were it appeared really fake. This is not one of Steven Spielberg's best movies; it does not even seem like a Spielberg movie except the short battle scene. Also the characters are so one dimensional, they are almost like card board cut outs. The movie is said at the end of the movie to take place over a period of four years but the journey of Joey (the horse) appears only to over a period of one year at the most. There should have been something that indicated the change in time.

Directed by: Steven Spielberg
Genre: Horse movie, War, Drama,
Release Date: 25 December 2011
Running Time: 146 minutes
MMPA rating: PG-13

The Good: One good battle scene, John Williams soundtrack,

The Bad: Not focused enough, One dimensional characters, As soon as you begin to like the characters it switchs to another group of characters,

Note: This trailer is very misleading.

Plot: The following plot summery is copied from Wikipedia.com.
Note: In the following plot summery is contains the first 50 minutes compared to the usual 30 minutes I usually post.
In Devon, England 1912, a teenage boy named Albert Narracott (Jeremy Irvine) watches the birth of a thoroughbred foal and watches with admiration the growth of the young horse, galloping through the fields at his mother's side. Much to the dismay of his mother Rose (Emily Watson), his father Ted (Peter Mullan) buys the colt at auction, despite a friend pointing out a more suitable plough horse for his farm. Desiring to spite his landlord Mr Lyons (David Thewlis), and retain his pride, Ted bids higher and higher for the colt. The high cost of the horse (30 guineas) means he is unable to pay rent to Lyons, who threatens to take possession of the farm if the money is not paid by the autumn. Ted promises to meet the deadline, suggesting he could plough and plant a lower, rock-filled field with turnips. Albert names the horse Joey and devotes much time to training him. Albert's best friend, Andrew Easton (Matt Milne), watches as Albert teaches his colt many things, such as to come when he imitates the call of an owl by blowing through his cupped hands.
Ted, who has a bad leg from a war injury, is frequently shown drinking alcohol from a flask he carries. Rose shows Albert his father's medals from the Second Boer War in South Africa, where Ted served as a sergeant with the Imperial Yeomanry. Ted was severely wounded in action, and received the Distinguished Conduct Medal for bravery under fire. She gives Albert his father's regimental pennant, telling Albert that his father is not proud of what he did during the war, and that he had thrown the flag and medals away, though Rose saved and kept them hidden.
Albert trains Joey for the plough and, to his neighbours' astonishment, prepares a stony hillside field to plant with turnips. However a rainstorm destroys the turnip field, so to pay the overdue rent (and without telling Albert), Ted sells Joey to Captain James Nicholls (Tom Hiddleston), a young cavalry officer, as World War I breaks out. When Albert finds out, he confronts the officer and begs for him not to take the horse. Nicholls promises he will take care of Joey as his own horse and hopefully will return him after the war. Albert tries to enlist in the army, but is too young. Before the captain leaves with Joey, Albert ties his father's pennant to Joey's bridle. Watch the movie to what happens next.

Plot: 6.8/10- War Horse tried so hard to make you feel emotional it seemed really fake in many parts. The concept for the movie was decent but not executed well.

Action: 6.0/10- There were two short battle scenes in War Horse, both were made very well but they were far too short.

Acting: 6.8/10- The acting was not bad, it was just flat and stiff, like there were just reading dialogue.

Special effects: 6.0/10- War Horse does have many special effects but what is there is good.

Soundtrack: 8.5/10- While this is not one of John Willaims' best soundtracks it is very good.

Comedy: 6.4/10- There were one or two humorous moments.

Would I Watch This Again: There is nothing in War Horse that warnts a re-peat viewing.

Overall: 6.8/10- War Horse is not a bad movie, it is just not what it could have been.

Closing comments: If you really love horse movies you could become emotionally attached to the horse and actually like War Horse

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban Review.

Thoughts: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is considered by many to one of, if not the best of the Harry Potter series. While the Prisoner of Azkaban is a far better movie in quality compared to the previous movies and it was a much more mature movie. It was a little too dark for my tastes and the plot progression was a little slow. Also as a Christian there was one thing that I did not like. The performances in the Prisoner of Azkaban were really good and made the characters seem more believable. One thing I found very odd was that Hogwarts looked very different than previous movies and the placement of building and other things have changed drastically but there really was not much of a problem since it did look much better. The cinematography in the Prisoner of Azkaban is very good and the landscapes looked great. The special effects finally looked believable with some very well made effect shots. One of the main problems with the previous Harry Potter movies was his very annoying adopted family, which I mentioned in my other reviews, but their part was about 8 minutes in the movie, therefore that part was much better. There also a few unexpected plot twists and a slight mystery component, both of which worked well in the movie. The last 20 minutes of the movie were by far its best part but I will not spoil anything about that part of the plot. For some reason directly after watching the movie I did not like it a lot but after thinking about it I actually really enjoyed the movie. One of the most things about the Harry Potter movies thus far is the characters. Since many movie series stop at three movies their full character arc is shorten to fit into that time span. Yet, there are eight Harry Potter movies to build the characters and they are very likeable characters.

Directed by: Alfonso Cuarón
Genre: Fantasy, Adventure, Mystery,
Release Date: 4 June 2004 (2004-06-04)
Running Time: 142 minutes
MMPA rating: PG

The Good: Unexpected plot twists, Last 20 minutes were great, Much better acting than the previous movies, Great John Willaim soundtrack,

The Bad: A little too dark for my taste,

Plot: The following plot summery is copied from Wikipedia.com.
Harry Potter is at the Dursleys' for the summer, spending his time studying new spells undercover. When Uncle Vernon's sister, Marge, comes for a visit and infuriates Harry by insulting his parents, he accidentally causes her to inflate and fly away. Harry loses his temper and threatens to curse Vernon but flees, fed up with his life at Privet Drive. The Knight Bus appears and delivers Harry to the Leaky Cauldron, where Minister of Magic Cornelius Fudge tells him he will not be arrested. During the summer, his friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger go to the Leaky Cauldron too. Harry also learns that Sirius Black, a convicted supporter of Lord Voldemort, has escaped Azkaban prison and is likely intending to kill Harry.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione head back to school on the Hogwarts Express. They unknowingly share a compartment with the new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, Remus Lupin, who is sleeping. When the train abruptly stops, Dementors (the guards of Azkaban) board, searching for Black. Harry faints when one Dementor enters their compartment, but Lupin repels it with a charm, but before Harry faints, he hears a woman screaming. He asks who screamed, but they say no one screamed.
At Hogwarts, Albus Dumbledore informs students that the Dementors will be guarding the school while Black is at large. Professor Lupin is introduced, and Hagrid is announced as the new Care of Magical Creatures teacher. Lupin's lessons prove enjoyable; he focuses on practice, not just theory, and encourages less confident students such as Neville. However, Hagrid's first class goes awry when Draco Malfoy deliberately provokes the Hippogriff, Buckbeak, who then attacks him. Draco's father Lucius Malfoy has Buckbeak sentenced to death on court. Watch the movie to what happens next.

Plot: 8.2/10- The main idea for the plot was very good and the mystery part worked well, if the pacing was better it would have been a much better movie.

Action: 6.8/10- There actually a few action scenes in the Prisoner of Azkaban.

Acting: 8.4/10- The entire cast was much improved with Emma Watson, Daniel Radcliffe and Gary Oldman giving the best performances.

Special effects: 7.5/10- Although the movie was made in 2004 the effects are still decent today.

Soundtrack: 9.4/10- John Williams' soundtrack was even better than the previous movies.

Comedy: 7.0/10- There were a few humorous parts but some of the comedy fell flat.

Would I Watch This Again: If I become a fan of the other movies I would probably watch this again.

Overall: 8.1/10- Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is large improvement over the previous installments and is a very good movie.

Best Lord of the Rings Video Games.

I have been a Lord of the Rings fan since I watched the movies in theaters and since then I have collected many of The Lord of the Rings video games because I consider my self a "Hardcore Gamer". Here is a list ranking them from worst to first. Although I have played The Lord of the Rings online but I am not including because I have not played it very much. Also if you have any questions about these games please ask or send an e-mail johnstarslayer@gmail.com .
Due to spam comments, I have disabled comments on this post. But check out any of my other posts and comment.

At Number 6: The Third Age
This is the worst Lord of the Rings video game. While it is not a terrible game, it is just not really original. It plays just like any Turn Based RPG (Role Playing Game). It does have a few interesting characters but it is really not worth your time or money.

At Number 5: Aragorn's Quest
Aragorn's Quest really is a decent game on the Wii. It can be a good fun time for a while, but it starts to get a little old after a while.

At Number 4: Conquest
Now we are getting to the good games. This game was one of my reasons for buying an Xbox 360 and it is a good game. It should have been better but playing the epic battles of Middle Earth as a average soldier on the large battle field. Plus the alternate story were you can play as the evil side and conquer Middle Earth is really cool with the edited cut scenes that make it look like that you killed the heroes of Middle Earth and scorred the Shire.

At Number 3: Return of the King
This is the first Lord of the Rings game I bought when The Return of the King was released in theaters. While the graphics might be dated the game is still a blast to play.

At Number 2: War in the North
The one and only Lord of the Rings game to be rated "M" (equivalent to an "R" rating for movies). You can finally slice off Orc's arms and heads with three new characters from the Lord of the Rings franchise.

At Number 1: The Battle for Middle Earth 2
The Battle for Middle Earth 2 is not only the best Lord of the Rings video game it is one of the best RTS (Real Time Strategy) games on the console. You can command huge armies of the six different races of Middle Earth and command the many heroes and villains of Middle Earth.

What is your favorite Lord of the Rings video game?

Interview With Alyianna at Pass Word to Middle Earth.

To continue with the Lord of the Rings week today's interview is with Alyianna at Password to Middle Earth, Alyianna's Reviews, Scribbles of a Catholic Teen and Thoughts of a Dude and a Dudess. I highly recommend checking out Password to Middle Earth for the latest news about The Lord of the Rings and all things cornering Middle Earth. Also for book, music and movie reviews check out her Alyianna's Reviews blog.

My questions are in black and her answers are in blue.

What is your Blog Password to Middle Earth about?
On Password to Middle Earth, I mostly post news (such as updates on The Hobbit movie) from theonering.net (best LOTR website ever). When I have more time, I also post Behind-the-scenes from LOTR and other cool stuff. :)

What is the most questionable change in The Lord of the Rings books compared to the movies?
Oh, I could go on forever on this subject! Most questionable would be the part where Frodo tells Sam to go home. Frodo would never do anything like that, even with the Ring. Gollum could never get between him and Sam. I also get irrated by the changes to Elrond's, Denethor's, and Faramir's character.

How did you become a Lord of the Rings fan?
Love this story (shows the foolishness of a Took...er, Baggins)! When I was about eight, one of my good friends told me about LOTR and that she loved it. I decided I wanted to read the books, but my dad said to read The Hobbit first. I reluctantly agreed...but I didn't the cover looked very interesting (Smaug lying on a pile of gold and jewels). So I left it on my bookshelf for months. Finally, I did read it, and I LOVED it. After that came came The Lord of the Rings, which I loved (and still do) even more than The Hobbit. I can still remember my dad saying good night to me and I asked him, "Daddy, what happens in The Lord of the Rings? Will I hear more about Bilbo?"

Is a change made from The Lord of the Rings books to the movies that you liked better in the movie?
Hmmm...I like the funny parts with Gimli and (especially) Pippin and Merry. One of my favourites is the scene where Pippin and Merry search for food in the flooded Isengard. "He doesn't look too happy up there, does he, Merry?" "No, he doesn't, Pippin." "Still, the view must be very good up there." "Oh, yes. It's a quality establishment."

Do you agree with the direction Peter Jackson is going with The Hobbit?
I'm not so sure about that. When I heard that Turiel (I believe that was her name) was going to be an elvish warrior AND head of the elven guard, I wasn't too happy. And P.J. better have Smaug and the trolls talk...or else. :P

Which Lord of the Rings Audiobook is The Best?

I have been looking a good Lord of the Rings Audiobook and I think I have found a few candidates to choose from. I want to know the opinion of The Lord of the Rings fan on which one you think is the best. I have recently become a fan of audiobooks, I think audio books add a lot to the experience of a book and makes it much more convenient than reading the books. Because have you ever tried reading while running or driving? I would not recommend it, the consequences can be quite unfortunate. I will most likely be starting the book some time next week.

*Due to spam, the comments on this post have been turned off. Please feel free to comment on my other posts.*

Here is the one I am most interested in. It is made my a fan of the movies and books and you can download it free from his YouTube site. I think it is very high quality. What you think of this one?

Warning this vidoe contains spoilers for the book and movie.
Here is the battle of Helm's Deep. I really like the sound effects and in this one, it makes you feel like you are in the battle.

Here is a professional audiobook. I did not like this as much as the other.

For those interested in listening to the audiobooks here is the playlist. The first video explains why this guy is making the audiobook.

Please comment and tell me which one you think I should try.

The Return of the King Extend Edition Review.

Thoughts: The Return of the King is my favorite of The Lord of the Rings Trilogy so I was very excited to see the extended edition of The Return of the King and it did not disappoint. There were many scenes that should have been included in the original cut. The only problem with The Return of the King was the prolonged ending. There were not any scenes added to the very end but Peter Jackson should have cut some of the end and added a scene like The Mouth of Sauron or just made the movie longer. The extended edition makes The Return of the King a much more complete movie. The extended battle scenes were great and some of the other scenes explain the movie much better than the original cut of the film. The extended edition added about 53 minutes of extra footage, which is more than the other two extended editions. There was an added scene about what happened to Saruman after, which I will have more to say about it below, and some other characters that I have only seen in video games like the Corsairs and The Mouth of Sauron. The Return of the King is the only extended edition that did not have a slower pace, which is not a flaw in movie, compared to the original and I will probably only watch this version in the future. Many of the scenes tied up a few lose ends and it a better movie. Just as in my previous review of The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers below are all of the scenes that were added and my comments are highlighted in red below each description of the extra scenes that I think are worth noting.

The Return of the King Extended Scenes.
Note: These are not in exact order and they are a few more scenes that were added that are not listed below.

The final confrontation between Gandalf and Saruman on Isengard; Saruman's staff breaks and he is stabbed in the back by Gríma Wormtongue, who is shot with an arrow by Legolas; Saruman falls from Orthanc and is impaled in a war machine. His palantír falls on the water and is found by Pippin.
I thought this was a very important scene that showed us the fate of Saruman. They never said what happened to him in the original cut ir were Gandalf found the Palantir.
The drinking game between Legolas and Gimli
This scene was hilarious. Legolas and Gimli are really funny together.
Sam threatening Gollum about Frodo on the secret stairs to Shelob's Lair.
Merry offering his services to King Theoden
This was just an extendison of the original scene.
Faramir and Pippin having a passionate conversation in Minas Tirith.
Another scene with Faramir that was cut. It also explained were Pippin got the small suit of armor.

Faramir telling Denethor that he would never use the One Ring (in a flashback on which Boromir appears).
More character deveolpment of Faramir.
Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli barely escaping from an avalanche of craniums when they are negotiating the alliance with the Dead.
Before this scene I thought that there were only extended scenes and not scenes that were completely changed but this scene changed what happened in the original.
Aragorn seeing the fleet of Corsairs ships.
This explains how Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli obtained the boat that they traveled with the un-dead army.

The fighting between Gandalf and the Witch-king of Angmar in Minas Tirith.
In the original cut it never showed how Gandalf lost his staff and it should have been included, but I guess that is what this extended edition is for.

Extended scenes of the Battle of the Pelennor Fields
The Battle of the Pelennor Fields is one of the greatest battles in movie history and the extended edition made it even longer, which was great. Gandalf even had some

Faramir and Eowyn in the Houses of Healing
Another scene that shows what happened to Eowyn after her battle with the Witch King.
The march of Frodo and Sam between the orcs
Aragorn revealing the sword Anduril to Sauron in a palantír.
This explains how they got Sauron attention.
The Mouth of Sauron
This is probably my favorite scene that was added to the extended edition. I have seen The Mouth of Sauron in many Lord of the Rings vidoe games and wondered why he was not in the original cut.
Gollum and Frodo struggling on Mount Doom.
Fan End Credits
New song called "Bilbo's Song" added to the closing credits

The Movie: 10/10- This my favorite Lord of the Rings movie and fourth favorite movie overall after the four best Star Wars movies and the extended edition made it even better,
Video: 10/10- Wow! The Return of the King's video quality was amazing! The cinematography made it one of the best looking movies I have seen on Blu-Ray. It is worth getting just to watch on Blu-Ray.

Audio: 9.9/10- The sound was probably the best of the collection.

Overall 10/10- Overall The Return of the King Extended Edition is the best of the set.

I will review the special features after I get around to them.
