As requested by a Anonymous comment and voted on in the Reader’s Choice post, here is the review for the Doctor Who episode "The Angels Take Manhattan". Warning spoilers ahead.
It was common knowledge that "The Angels Take Manhattan" would be the last episode for fan-favorite and my favorite companions Amy and Rory. Although it was not quite as fun as many other episodes, it focused more on the characters and their tragic sendoff. The episode is perfectly paced and explores even more of the time traveling logic, which deals with can history be changed with you now how it ends. River Song’s appearance in the episode was fun and her interaction with The Doctor is great as always. The tone of the episode was darker than usual, which was to convey the seriousness of the situation and it worked. One of the most crushing parts of the episode is when right before Amy and Rory escape the Angels it one finally catches them. That was a shock, almost thought they would make it, but alas, they did not.
Overall 9.6/10- In short, "The Angels Take Manhattan" was a fitting departure to Amy and Rory, albeit a sad one.
Here is the a storyboard of a scene that was never filmed for the episode but has Rory's voice over in it and a must watch if you have seen the episode.

Great review!! :D I've heard a lot of good things about this episode so I can't wait to watch this and the rest of season 7 :)
ReplyDeleteGood review. :)
ReplyDeleteI personally really didn't like this episode. I was annoyed with River for not going with the Doctor in the end (really? what kind of wife are you?), the time travel logic in this one seemed off to me, and well, I was sad to see Amy and Rory go. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't what I wanted.
But, it's interesting to see another viewer's POV. Glad that you enjoyed it. :)
Best,
Alexandra~
@Shena Tokala: Hope you will enjoy it as much as I did. :)
ReplyDelete@ALexandra Lanc: Thank you. :)
Good point about River, she should have left with the Doctor. I wonder when the day with the two Doctors is going to happen, if it is going to happen in the series' run.
