There is a rumor that Viggo Mortensen, who played Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, could be casted as, Doctor Strange in Thor: The Dark World. Considering that two of Strange's magical artifacts were seen in Obin's treasure room during Thor, and that a Doctor Strange movie has been in the works for years, it is not inconceivable he could appear in the movie. Doctor Strange (picture below) is the Sorcerer Supreme of the Marvel Universe and one of the more recent members of The Avengers. While I seriously doubt that he could be in The Avengers sequel, it could make sense that he could appear in Thor: The Dark World. Although this is just my speculation, Strange could have helped Thor to be sent back to earth in The Avengers considering his transdimensional powers; it is not a stretch to believe it could have through his help in exchange for the Eye and Orb of Agamotto (pictures below). Doctor Strange is not my favorite character, but overall he could work somewhat well on screen and Mortensen is the best possible choice for the role. Also Strange is based in New York city like many other Marvel heroes.

I'd love to see Viggo Mortensen in Thor 2; He was really good in Lord of the Rings and I've wanted to see him in other roles. I hope the rumor proves to be true :)
ReplyDeleteI really liked him in LOTR- second to the one and only Legolas of course. He's really awesome. If he's there, I would definitely watch it :D
ReplyDelete@Shena Tokala: Unfortunately, I just found out today that the rumor was false. :( Oh well, he would have been a greast choice.
ReplyDelete@Solace Utara: He was definitely awesome in LOTR, and Legolas too. :)
