Doctor Strange Trailer Review

Doctor Strange's first trailer is here and it is....... Strange....... Yeah, sorry, had to do it, but seriously, this trailer is unique and weird and fascinating! The film barely looks like a Marvel movie, which is fantastic. It will surely have more humor, but the visual aesthetic and visual effects are insane. Sure, it might look like Inception at points, and that's only because of those two effects scenes. Otherwise, Scott Derrickson is crafting a mysterious film about magic that departs fairly far from the typical superhero romp. Benedict Cumberbatch sounds very different than usual with an American accent, and Tilda Swinton actually shaved her head. The visual style gets me so excited to see what exactly Doctor Strange will be or do. What do you think? Please comment below and let me know.

Benedict Cumberbatch is Marvel's Doctor Strange?

Before Marvel’s big announcement of their Phase 3 film lineup, which you can read about here, a rumor about Benedict Cumberbatch coming close to closing a deal with Marvel to play Doctor Strange was leaked. If you remember any of my early posts about the Doctor Strange film, Cumberbatch was at the top of my personal fantasy casting, as well as many other fans, and it seems that Marvel cannot stop pleasing its audience. After Marvel announcing that we essentially got everything we wanted in the Phase 3 lineup, Marvel will also hopefully finish the deal with Cumberbatch. Considering Doctor Strange's character in the comics, Cumberbatch is the best possible choice, aside from maybe Viggo Mortensen. Back around Comic-Con, Joaquin Phoenix was rumored to play Doctor Who, but apparently, a deal could not be closed, which is probably for the best considering his inability to be a team player. As for Cumberbatch, all he needs to do is grow a mustache and change his hair a bit, and he is the perfect Doctor Strange. What do you think about the casting? Please comment below and let me know. Also, please do not forget to check back Tuesday and Friday for my breakdown of Marvel Phase 3.

Aragorn in Thor 2: The Dark World?

There is a rumor that Viggo Mortensen, who played Aragorn in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, could be casted as, Doctor Strange in Thor: The Dark World. Considering that two of Strange's magical artifacts were seen in Obin's treasure room during Thor, and that a Doctor Strange movie has been in the works for years, it is not inconceivable he could appear in the movie. Doctor Strange (picture below) is the Sorcerer Supreme of the Marvel Universe and one of the more recent members of The Avengers. While I seriously doubt that he could be in The Avengers sequel, it could make sense that he could appear in Thor: The Dark World. Although this is just my speculation, Strange could have helped Thor to be sent back to earth in The Avengers considering his transdimensional powers; it is not a stretch to believe it could have through his help in exchange for the Eye and Orb of Agamotto (pictures below). Doctor Strange is not my favorite character, but overall he could work somewhat well on screen and Mortensen is the best possible choice for the role. Also Strange is based in New York city like many other Marvel heroes.
