Top 10 Star Wars Characters: Happy Star Wars Day

May the Fourth be with You! Yes, today is May 4th; Star Wars day! And to celebrate Star Wars day, let's rank the Top 10 Star Wars characters from the movies, TV shows, video games, and novels!

Honorable Mention: Darth Revan

A central aspect of the Knights of the Old Republic video game, Darth Revan is a fixture of the Old Republic era. Revan's storyline showed me how powerful the Star Wars Expanded Universe could be, and if there is one EU story that should be adapted into a film, it should be Revan's story, or even better, a Netflix original series.

10: Rey
Introduced in The Force Awakens with a mysterious past, Rey stood out the most among the stellar new cast, largely thanks to Daisy Ridley's stunning performance. By the time the new trilogy concludes, I have a feeling that Rey will rank even higher on this list. At this point, we know very little about Rey's past, so we will have to wait and see what happens in the next film!

9: Boba Fett
How does a character with only 6 minutes 32 seconds, 4 lines, 5 complete sentences, and 27 words of dialogue become an iconic villain? Well, having one of the most bad*ss character designs ever and an insanely cool spaceship certainly helps. After the Original Trilogy, Boba Fett's backstory has been fleshed out, and honestly, a Boba Fett movie would be such a better idea than a Young Han Solo film, so here's to hoping!

8: R2-D2
Come on, who doesn't love this plucky little guy? Thanks to the audio editors, Kenny Baker, and the effects team, R2-D2 might not speak a word of English, but he has more personality than many main characters.

7: Chewbacca
Everyone's favorite laughing fuzzball, Chewbacca is yet another iconic character, who never speaks a word of intelligible dialogue. With his return in The Force Awakens, Chewbacca will hopefully continue to be a lovable supporting character for our heroes.

6: Princess Leia
Revolutionary in many ways at the time for subverting the "Damsel in Distress" cliche by having the "Damsel" actually fight, Princess Leia is a landmark character in science fiction.

5: Yoda
“Do, or do not. There is no try.” With his role in The Empire Strikes Back being especially noteworthy, Yoda is the exact opposite of the stereotypical "legendary warrior." He is the Jedi Master, the character that embodies everything that a Jedi is.

4: Obi-Wan Kenobi
Obi-Wan Kenobi stands as one of the few characters to be well represented in the Prequel trilogy, largely thanks to Ewan McGregor. Of course, Alec Guinness brilliantly played the character in Original trilogy, enough so to land an Oscar nomination. Is Obi-Wan Rey's father? Who knows, but we will find out soon.

3: Luke Skywalker
Often considered a "whiny" protagonist, unjustly so, Luke Skywalker is the quintessential example of the Hero's Journey. Each film, Luke progresses as a character, as a hero. He faces trials and tribulations on his journey, conflicted between dark and light, if only briefly. Now, in the new Trilogy, we will soon discover his new role.

2: Darth Vader
A few years ago, Darth Vader would have easily topped this list, and while he is certainly the greatest villain ever in fiction, he is edged out by my top pick. With that said, Vader is such a fascinating character. In Star Wars (1977), Vader's entrance is unforgettable, and arguably one of the best villain introductions ever. At first, Vader served as the imposing antagonist against our lovable heroes. While his past is hinted at the first film, little is uncovered until the ultimate plot twist is revealed. Darth Vader is Luke's father, and the entire dynamic of the character changes, which all comes together with his ultimate redemption in Return of the Jedi. Darth Vader is not just my favorite villain; he is always vying for number one spot as my favorite character of all-time.

1: Han Solo
Was there ever a question that Han Solo would be number one? Heck, just look at my profile picture, post signature, or any number things and Han Solo is obviously my favorite Star Wars character of all-time. He is witty, bad*ss, a smart-mouth, and just plain cool. Throughout the Original Trilogy and The Force Awakens, Han progresses and develops from the heartless scoundrel that gunned down Greedo in the cantina to actually caring for someone other than himself by Return of the Jedi. However, *Force Awakens Spoilers* ultimately Han returns to the only thing he knows after personal tragedy. And finally, Han's character came full circle with his death by the hand of his son; a poetic end for a beloved character. *End Spoilers* And of course, Han shot first. Was there ever a question?

Who are your favorite Star Wars characters? Please comment below and May the Fourth be with You.

Indiana Jones 5 is Officially Announced! Ford and Spielberg Return!

Indiana Jones 5 is Officially Announced! Harrison Ford and Steven Spielberg will return and the film opens on July 19th, 2019. Wow, this is exciting news! Of course, Walt Disney Studios now own the rights to Indiana Jones in the deal for Lucasfilm, and honestly, the fact that the new film is neither a reboot is surprising. Even more surprising is that Spielberg is returning to direct. In the past, he indicated that he was finished with action adventure flicks after Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, but hey, Disney probably waved a wad of cash in his face and a lot of creative freedom, so he is back!

If you are somehow unaware, the Indiana Jones franchise is one of my all-time favorites, right behind Star Wars and The Lord of the Rings. However, due to Kingdom of the Crystal Skull being the most disappointing film in cinematic history, or at least from my perspective, I used to think that leaving the Indiana Jones franchise finished was the best idea. Now, with The Force Awakens bringing back Star Wars to its former glory, my faith and confidence in Disney to do the same for Indiana Jones is rather high. Spielberg is one of the greatest film directors of all-time, and some of his best work lies within the Indiana Jones trilogy, particularly Raiders of the Lost Ark. Considering The Force Awakens’ return to practical effects, it should be no question that Indiana Jones does the same with practical stun work. My only concern is that Ford is 73, and who knows how long he can keep being an action hero. Hopefully, he can give Indiana Jones a strong sendoff and pass the torch to the next generation, much like he did in The Force Awakens.

Other information released is that Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall will produce the film, and David Koepp, who has worked on Jurassic Park, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, Mission: Impossible, and Spider-Man, will write the script.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Spoiler Discussion - Part 2

It's time for Part 2 of the Star Wars: The Force Awakens Spoiler Discussion! And as the title suggests, massive spoilers are ahead, so if you haven't seen the movie, what the heck have you been doing with your life!? Go watch it now! Now, let's talk some spoilers!

Starkiller Base
It's the Death Star, again, but bigger. As far as criticisms go, Starkiller base essentially being a bigger Death Star is the most valid, and honestly the only one with much weight behind the argument. Should the central McGuffin been something other than a giant weapon that destroys starsystems? Yeah, probably. Is it as big a deal as some are making it out to be? Nope, it's still different enough, and can you honestly think of something better?

With that said, using Starkiller Base to destroy basically all the politics in the Star Wars galaxy is rather brilliant. Now one of the worst parts of the Prequel Trilogy is completely out of the picture! As it turns out, there were some deleted scenes that take place about the Senate on the planets that were destroyed, which might have added some weight to the moment where they are destroyed, albeit at the cost of pacing. However, we will have to wait until the Blu-Ray to see if the scene would have been worth keeping in the film. But as a whole, Starkiller Base is the one plot point that is a bit too similar to the previous films.

Poe Dameron Sidelined and Originally Died?
Poe Dameron is hailed as one of the many highlights of The Force Awakens and for good reason. Oscar Isaac made the character instantly likable, and his chemistry with Finn made for an awesome Bromance in 5 minutes! However, according to sources, Poe was said to have died in the Tie-Fighter crash in the original script. Probably after seeing how great of a character the writers had, the script was changed and Poe merely went missing in the crash. Many reviews complained that Poe did not receive enough screen. While I agree to a point, his exclusion is one of the many brilliant decisions that the writers made to prevent the film from being cluttered and overstuffed, like many films are today. Of course, Poe should definitely play a major role in Episode VIII now that Han Solo has died.

Luke Skywalker
Thanks to the brilliant marketing, no knew that Luke Skywalker would have almost no screen time and zero lines of dialogue! And while some may be disappointed by his lack of screen time, nothing about the marketing alluded that Luke would have much of a role in the film. In fact, not including Luke is a brilliant decision by the creators. The Force Awakens benefits for the limited number of central characters and saving Luke for the next film should prove to be a great asset to the film. While not many people seem to disagree, Luke exclusion from the film was excellently executed.

Millennium Falcon: "The garbage will do"
Easily one of, if not, the best scene in the film is when Rey and Finn are running from the First Order to find a ship, Finn says, "What about that ship?" and Rey shouts, "That one's garbage." The quad-jumper ship that they are running towards explodes, and Rey shouts again, "The garbage will do," as the camera pans towards the Millennium Falcon! First time watching the movie, I literally gasped loud enough for my brother to hear two seats away. Just wow! That is how you introduce the Millennium Falcon! The scene makes the Millennium Falcon an integral part of the story and doesn't just stop everything to have a moment. The Millennium Falcon is shown, only the audience thinks of it as anything special, and the plot continues in possibly the best starfighter chase of the franchise, or at least since Return of the Jedi. Everything about the scene is perfectly executed. It highlights one of the many strengths of the film in that it doesn't dwell on the past to get the audience nostalgic. All of the aspects from the Original Trilogy are incorporated into the story organically.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Spoiler Discussion - Part 1

Welcome to part one of my multi-part spoiler discussion of Star Wars: The Force Awakens! If you have not seen The Force Awakens, go watch it now and then come back because major spoilers are ahead. For everyone else, this post is intended to discuss spoilers, so go crazy with spoilers and thoughts in the comments. This discussion series will focus on specific characters, moments, and points of discussion.

Supreme Leader Snoke and Crazy Theories
If one character could be changed, it would be Supreme Leader Snoke. Based on what we see in this film, having the brilliant Andy Serkis play a motion-capture character seemed unnecessary. Making him a CGI character might pay off in the sequels. However, the CGI quality was somewhat lacking in The Force Awakens. Then there is that moment when everyone wonders: "IS HE IS A FREAKING GIANT!? PLEASE NO!" Thankfully, it was a hologram, so he was probably just compensating for something.... But yeah, even if the creators were planning on making him a giant, hopefully they are listening to the backlash against the idea, and Snoke will either be small in stature or relatively normal.

Other than whether or not Snoke is a giant, the biggest thing about the character is the question of who the heck is he!? Is he Darth Plagueis? Or Palpatine? Heck, why not Jar Jar Binks? I'm sorry, but all these fan "theories" are getting a little out of hand! Some have even said Darth Vader or Mace Windu, which is absurd! And don't get me started on how dumb the time-traveling Kylo Ren "theory" is! My guess is the logical one: Snoke is a new character! At this point, people might end up disappointed if Snoke is not related to a preexisting character, but as long as Snoke is an interesting antagonist, I'll be satisfied. And Disney, please make the CGI look better in the next film!

Han Solo Dies
"NOOOOOOOOOOOO" HAN SOLO DIED!!!!!!! My favorite character in the history of fiction is dead! His death has even gotten me to change my profile picture back to a new picture of Han! But wow, watching my favorite character die was an experience! Thankfully, I did not hear any spoilers before seeing the film. However, believe it or not, I called his death as soon as a new Star Wars movie was announced. Sure, you might not believe me, and as crazy as it sounds, I never wanted to write about it because if I was correct, I might spoil the film for someone other than my brother. Heck, I never even told my friends, only my brother, Jacob.

With that aside, Han Solo's death was apparent to me as soon as he walked toward Kylo Ren on the walkway. However, giving almost a warning to audience was intended and created incredible amounts of tension as Kylo handed Han the Lightsaber. What made it all the more powerful is Ford's surprised, yet not sad, expression, as he helped his son in some way. It was painful to watch in the best way possible. Chewbacca's wail of anger and despair as he shot Kylo and mowed down some Stormtroopers was the perfect way to bring the audience back from the shock of Han's death. All around, a superbly executed scene with so much emotion! And Harrison Ford finally got to kill off his character like he and the writers wanted to in Return of the Jedi.

Leia and Chewie not Mourning
Han's death did lack in one area.... After Chewie, Rey, and Finn returned from the battle, Chew walks right past Leia! He just walks right on past as Rey hugs Leia. This is such a missed opportunity! Leia and Chewie knew Han better than anyone. As Chewie walks off the ship, Leia and Chewie should have embraced and mourned briefly, or something like that. Honestly, if there was one thing that I could change about The Force Awakens, this is it!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens - Second Thoughts

Well, I have seen Star Wars: The Force Awakens again! After the local theater waited the mandatory four weeks (read here for details), The Force Awakens came to town and I went to see it again with my brother, along with our friend, who has yet to see it. And this second viewing, after watching countless in-depth reviews and analysis videos, has given me even more to say about the film. But today's post is a non-spoiler discussion of my thoughts on a second viewing.

Overall, my opinion expressed in my initial review is still very much my opinion. Is The Force Awakens flawed in a few very minor ways? Yes. Do the minor issues take away from a mostly brilliant film? Heck no! Every film is flawed in some way, even the best. But that's a discussion for another time.

As for my second thoughts, basically, the second viewing reaffirmed that The Force Awakens is, by far, the best movie of 2015, and one of the best movies in years. The filmmaking is absolutely breathtaking. So much of what's on screen are real, tangible, props. Not since the 80s has a FX heavy sci-fi movie used so much practical effects on this scale. It's mind blowing! And my qualms with the CGI characters are for the spoiler discussions. Basically, The Force Awakens is even better on a rewatch. The second viewing did give me the opportunity to look at what was going on in the background and admire the incredible craftsmanship, and pay attention to the performances throughout the film. Initially, John Boyega as Finn was my favorite new character from the film. However, after paying close attention to Daisy Ridley as Rey, her performance blew me away. While there will be more detail in the spoiler review, her acting through expressions is rather amazing. So much is expressed without words. It has been a while since I have seen a young actor deliver like this, and of course Rey sets the new standard for heroines in film, but again, more on that later!

Watching in 2D, opposed to 3D, was roughly the same experience, although the mo-cap characters looked a little better in 2D. Otherwise, there is little difference between the two viewing experiences. However, the starfighter battles are marginally better in 3D.

Overall, Star Wars: The Force Awakens brings Star Wars back to its former glory! It has the likable characters, adventure, emotional pull, deeper meaning, and visual symbolism that Star Wars is known for! Expect a series of spoiler discussion posts whenever I feel like writing those up during the month! If you have any specific points of interest to discuss, let me know in the comments!

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Review

Star Wars: Episode VII: The Force Awakens... After years of believing that the Star Wars franchise was at an end with Revenge of the Sith, Disney buys Star Wars and brings it back. Star Wars has been an important part of my life for longer than I can remember, and as such, my expectations, despite avoiding all reviews, trailers, and spoilers, are astronomically high. So, does Star Wars meet our expectations? Let's find out!

Directed by: J. J. Abrams
Genre: Sci-Fi, Action, Adventure,
Release Date: December 18, 2015
Running Time: 135 minutes
MMPA rating: PG-13

The Good: Star Wars is awesome again, Classic tone and feel, Harrison Ford is incredible, Emotional scenes, Constantly entertaining, Every new characters are lovable, John Williams' is perfection, Instant chemistry between the cast, Practical effects everywhere, Poe is the most likable guy ever, Finn is relatable, Rey is easy to connect to, Kylo Ren is deeper than he first appears, Exciting starfighter battles, Everything,

The Bad: One small thing at the end (which could be easily explained in the sequel),

Plot: 10/10- Star Wars: The Force Awakens' plot and tone feels like a Star Wars film again! And that’s mind blowing in itself! However, directly discussing aspects of the plot would spoil many of the excellent narrative decisions the writers have made, but as a fan, most, if not all, of the creative choices made are satisfying. Many things are certainly unexpected, but they all fit well within the context of the Original Trilogy.

One of the strongest aspects is the pacing. The plot moves effortlessly from event to event with action sequences in-between, and yet the action never overshadows the plot, or rather serves to progress it. There is never a dull moment in this 135 minutes ride. Everything just moves without ever feeling rushed, because the creators know how long to linger on the quieter scenes, just like the Original Trilogy.

One crucial aspect that many seem to forget is that Star Wars is not a large scale story. It follows a small group of people, who are important to the galaxy as a whole, yet the actual scope is relatively small and widens as the plot progresses. Thankfully, The Force Awakens captures the scope and scale of Star Wars flawlessly! Blockbusters act like "Bigger is Better" but the narrow settings and plot focus of The Force Awakens mirrors the utter brilliance of the original Star Wars.

Force Awakens' plot features allusions to the Original Trilogy films, which creates a familiar thematic tone. You could say that it was too similar to the Original Trilogy in ways, but the familiar elements seem intentional to reflect the tone of the franchise as it finds its new footing in the modern era. Star Wars, as a franchise, is complex on a deeper, philosophical level, rather than a strict narrative one, hence my speculation as to the similarities. However, my speculation could be utter BS, so there's that. Either way, the similarities are there, and if you are going to be similar to another film, might as well pick one of the best stories ever.

Some viewers might find that too many questions are asked, with only a few answered, but this is just the beginning of a trilogy, so we do not need all the answers now. The original Star Wars (or especially Empire) did not answer questions immediately either. So unless you saw it in theaters back in the day, you did not have to wait. However, there is one aspect towards the very end of the film that is a bit problematic, although it could be easily explained in the sequel. Other than that, there are no glaring plot holes.

Characterization: 10/10- Han Solo returns, and he is every bit the character that we all know and love, and yet different because the years in-between have taken a toll on Han. He is still a "Scruffy looking nerf herder," but something has happened in the past that changed him, and it shows.

Finn is the standout character from the film. He is the everyman of the franchise, and his motivations are not altruistic in nature. He is just a guy who wants to run away until he finds purpose, and yet you cannot help but love the guy. Plus, Finn is highly entertaining to watch with his various quirks and comedic lines, and he drives the heart of the film excellently.

Rey is a mysterious character. Little is known of her backstory or what she is. She serves as a determined and strong willed opposite to Finn's evasive nature. However, Rey is easy to like and has exceptional chemistry with Finn.

Kylo Ren is the surprise of the film. You expect him to be a Dark Side badass that just kills people, and yet he actually has multiple dimensions to his character. Without spoiling much, he is rather tragic and fascinating. However, it was not until you think back on the film do you realize just how complex and dynamic the character is written, and his motivations are superbly realized.

Poe Dameron is literally the most likable guy ever. Within the first five minutes of meeting Finn, Poe and Finn have the best chemistry! And Poe is just all around the coolest guy. However, he is barely in the film. On one hand, I can see the disappointment some have, but Poe is side character, so being "sidelined" shouldn't really be a valid criticism, even if it a bit annoying. However, what people might not realize is that sidelining Poe, keeps the film from being overstuffed, like Age of Ultron. So, even if I wish he was in it more, it makes sense if you take a step back and look at the overall narrative.

Lastly, everyone's favorite laughing fuzzball, Chewbacca, makes his much desired return, and while there is one minor aspect towards the end of his film that could have been better, he is presented well. Leia returns as well, and her character is effectively utilized.

Direction: 10/10- Visually and tonally, Abrams nails the feel of Star Wars! Of course, actually recreating the feel of the Original Trilogy is impossible, but the various creative choices made effectively reflect how the world of Star Wars has changed between the two films, while retaining many of the core aspects that we love about the universe. It takes the film about 15 minutes to firmly establish itself, but it, no doubt, Star Wars. The style is not familiar to any specific personal style. The fingerprints of the director are almost non-existent (except in the opening scene), but in the best way possible, since it feels like it is a product of Star Wars, not Abrams, which is a credit to Abrams' skill. It sounds crazy, but I almost feel like the movie wasn’t created, it just happened "A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...." and we to have a film reel of it. There are no actors; there are characters. Everything, except a few CGI characters, just exist, because the film looks so natural without much hint of being a product of modern filmmaking. It's almost magical in a sense. After the initial "Wow, those creatures are puppets not CGI," I was sucked into the world like no other film before. Of course, this is somewhat of an exaggeration, but hopefully that gets my point across.

The Lightsaber duel in the film is absolutely stunning. The Prequels featured fun and highly choreographed "blade-dances,” which, while entertaining, lacked something. Thankfully, The Force Awakens opts for a raw style of fighting with heavy, desperate swings, as the characters simply try to survive. Also, the Dark Side force powers are terrifying to witness! The other action sequences in the film are incredible and seamless. The starfighter battles are exhilarating! They are filmed like the Original Trilogy alternating between the characters in the starfighters and the battle itself. And the various close-quarters blaster battles are intense and raw as the characters barely make it out of each fight. Overall, superb action direction!

Acting: 10/10- Harrison Ford sells the older, almost broken, Han Solo to perfection. He is the same character, yet with growth. John Boyega delivers every line with a unique sensibility and conviction, unlike almost anything else, and his chemistry with Daisy Ridley is incredible! Ridley is exceptional in her role as well. There are several scenes without dialogue that she sells so well with only her expression, and her performance is so natural. As previously stated, Oscar Isaac as Poe is the most likable guy ever. And Adam Driver creates so much confliction in his role, even if he seems disappointing at first. Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, and Gwendoline Christie all play minor roles, and despite the limited screen time, they are great. Of course, Carrie Fisher does excellent in her minor role, even if the years have not been kind to her.

Special effects: 10/10- "Thank the maker!" Because there is so much practical effects and puppetry! If you see a big creature by a watering hole, it's not CGI, but rather a puppet, which is amazing to see in modern cinema! Sure, you can tell the creatures and aliens are puppets sometimes, but that's how Star Wars is suppose to look, and I love it! Thankfully, the CGI that is used sparingly, mostly for the starfighter scenes, and for a few motion capture characters. Maz Kanata is the only one that could have been a little better, but CGI can only go so far. Also, the tentacle monsters look the most fake, but still good. Otherwise, The Force Awakens is a true treat for fans of classic puppetry and practical effects.

Soundtrack: 10/10- John Williams' score is the best film score since the last Star Wars film score. It is familiar, and many of the classic themes gave me chills on so many occasions. However, the new themes are every bit as excellent as the original ones, yet still retaining the classic feel. After ten years, I have a new go-to soundtrack to listen to!

Humor: 10/10- The Force Awakens' sense of humor hits the mark! And the humor is a different style from the other films, but it works. Ford, Boyega, and BB-8 provide plenty of witty lines and moments that made me laugh. The film is much more serious than a Marvel movie, and the funny scenes are more organic, rather than intentionally making a joke, which is great.

Entertainment Value: 10/10- No question, this is the most entertainment I have ever experienced in a movie theater. Marvel movies, like The Avengers and Guardians of the Galaxy, have been a blast, but Star Wars is on a whole new level for personal entertainment. You may hear the phrase, "As soon as I walk out of the theater, I want to see it again," and never has that been more true than The Force Awakens. If what everyone else says is true, it only gets better on multiple viewings.

Overall: 10/10- Star Wars: The Force Awakens is everything and more than we could have asked for. It has emotion, drama, action, stunning visuals, a charming cast, and a plot with the perfect amount of complexity, yet familiarity. Star Wars is back, and as an extremely critic fan, it surpassed my impossible expectations.

Closing comments: For reference, few films have received a 10/10 from me, and even fewer actually deserve said rating in retrospect. Since becoming a critic, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the best film that I have had the pleasure of reviewing. Subsequent viewings will determine how it ranks among the all-time greats, but compared to all other first time viewings, The Force Awakens stands tall as a new milestone for cinematic brilliant and entertainment. Star Wars is back, and it is actually amazing. Not since the Lord of the Rings has a film impressed me to this level, and it is only the beginning of a new cinematic saga! Thanks everyone for reading, and "May the Force be with you."

Star Wars: The Force Awakens First Impression

Wow, just wow. They did it! They really did it! How did they do it!? Star Wars is back! YAHOO! Watching The Force Awakens is literally the best theater going experience of my life! Okay, time to regain my composure and save my thoughts for the full review tomorrow. But yeah, if you have not seen The Force Awakens, go watch it right now. Just go!

Believe it or not, I managed to avoid every single review, all trailers except the first teaser, and anything about the film, except for the posters. My "Spoiler-phobia" was put to the test, and after more than two weeks of avoiding every film website, I managed to watch The Force Awakens without any knowledge or opinions to weight down my experience. What you are reading right now is being written in the car on the way back home, and until my review is finished, I do not plan to read any reviews (however, by the time you are reading this, I probably have finished my first draft and have seen other reviews).
Lastly, the theatrical experience was rather excellent this time. Granted, my focus on the silver screen has never been quite this strong in the past, so I probably not have noticed if an elephant walk into the theater. My only mild complaint is that the 3D was not particularly special, although the IMAX video and audio quality was superb, so it was worth it for sure. When the film eventually comes to the local theater after the four week mandated by Disney (read more here), I will most definitely see it again, which will be followed by a spoiler review or podcast.

Also, usual, if you have reviewed Star Wars: The Force Awakens, please let me know in the comments. A link to the review would be great too, so that I and others can also see your review. And please check back tomorrow for my review of Star Wars: The Force Awakens!
Me on the way home from the theater.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens in Theaters Today!

At long last, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is in theaters! Honestly, the feeling of it being theaters is kind of surreal. After growing up with the Star Wars films, video games, novels, and basically everything, Star Wars is back in theaters again. Ever since Revenge of the Sith, I have been waiting for another Star Wars film, and until Disney bought Star Wars, I never expected to see another one. As I said last week, I will hopefully see the film Monday or Tuesday. Until then, I'm avoiding anything and everything could be a spoiler or review. However, I will continue posting as usual, since there are a ton of great new movie trailers! And if you have written a review, please let me know, just don't say what you think of the film, but I will check out the review after seeing the film for myself. Also, be aware that silmos (Dug for "slimeball" in Star Wars) are in the comments and might spoil the film. They have already tried earlier this week!

Top 50 Star Wars Characters: 20-11

My Top 50 Star Wars Characters list continues with ten more entries!

20: HK-47
A crazy assassin android that refers to all humans, except his master, as "Meatbags," HK-47 is one of the many highlights from the brilliant Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic video game.

19: Bastila Shan
Another character from Knights of the Old Republic, Bastila Shan is an up and coming Jedi in the Old Republic before meeting a mysterious man and helps him on his quest to discover his lost identity.

18:Ahsoka Tano

At first, Ahsoka almost seemed like another Jar Jar Binks level mistake. Thankfully, after season 1 of the Clone Wars, she developed into a truly well rounded character with a character arc that becomes one of the highlights of The Clone Wars TV series.

17: Mara Jade
One of the first fixtures of the Star Wars Expanded Universe, Mara Jade set the standard for what EU characters could be in the Star Wars universe.

16: Jabba the Hutt
Basically a giant slug, Jabba the Hutt is the most feared crime lord in the galaxy, until Leia kills him the chain that he used to enslave her.

15: Darth Maul
Easily one of the best things to come out of the Prequel Trilogy, Darth Maul is the epitome of cool, visually at least. Sure, in the film, he does not have much development as a character, but thanks to The Clone Wars, we get to see what could have been because he was far too interesting of a character to kill so quickly.

14: Emperor Palpatine
The mastermind behind virtually everything throughout the two trilogies, Emperor Palpatine is a ultimate villain that lurks in the shadows as others do his bidding.

13: Lando Calrissian

“Lando's not a system he's a man!" Former owner of the Millennium Falcon, Lando Calrissian turned from a backstabbing scoundrel to respectable fixture of the Rebel Alliance.

12: Grand Admiral Thrawn
Of all the Expanded Universe characters that should receive some form of revival in the new Star Wars films, Grand Admiral Thrawn probably deserves it the most. First appearing in the aptly named, "Thrawn Trilogy" of novels, Thrawn is a truly complex and fascinating character. Despite taking over the remainder of the Empire after its fall in Return of the Jedi, Thrawn is far from the truly evil nature of Emperor Palpatine. Instead, he generally has the best interest of the galaxy as a whole, and his ultimate demise is an incredibly poetic way to end one of the best characters in the Star Wars mythos.

11: C3PO

"I am C-3PO, human-cyborg relations." One of the first main characters to be shown on screen in the films, C3PO is a unique character inspired by Akira Kurosawa's samurai films. For the first 15 minutes of the original film, C3PO receives the majority of the dialogue, and "Thank the Maker!" that he is such a fun and witty character.

Where do these characters rank on your favorites? Please comment below and check back tomorrow for the Top 10 Star Wars Video Games!
