Batman/Superman Movie Officially Announced

It is official, Batman will be part of the Man of Steel of sequel! What millions of fans have clamoring for is finally becoming a reality. The movie is set to be released in 2015, the same year as Star Wars Ep. VI, Avengers 2, and Ant-Man, therefore 2015 could be the most epic year in the history of cinema. Zack Sndyer is coming back to direct the sequel, which is not a bad thing nor it is the best thing for the franchise. The actor for Batman has yet to be announced however, there is plenty of time before principle photography begins so announce will not be for a while. It is mostly confirmed that Christian Bale will not be returning to reprise his role of Batman nor will any of the other "Nolanverse" characters be featured in the film. David Goyer is set to unfortunately pen the script again for the sequel. While Goyer can be a solid writer, his script for Man of Steel lacked the human touch and made all but Superman's character feel cold and distant. As for Batman, it has been suggested that he will play part of an antagonist, possibly fighting Superman, at least in the beginning. Unless Kryptonite or something similar is introduced in the Man of Steel universe, Batman stands no chance. Sure, Batman have defeated Superman in the Dark Knight Returns comic, but Superman did not really want to hurt Bruce. Other rumors are that a Flash movie is set for a 2016 release date and a Justice League film in 2017.
This is somewhat off topic but something that I will understand is why everyone was complaining about the recent reboot of Spider-Man before it even came out because people thought it was "too soon" for a reboot, even though Spider-Man 3 was disappointing. Conversely, there was approximately the same amount between the horrendous Superman Returns and Man of Steel yet no one was being jerk and complaining that it was "too soon" for a reboot. Also people are not complaining that is too soon for Batman to be rebooted, it makes no sense! Regardless, Man of Steel and the Dark Knight movie will either be the fun team-up fans have been waiting for, or a complete disaster. What are your thoughts on the upcoming Batman/Superman movie? Please sound off in the comments. Also please check back tomorrow for my review of Death Note.

  1. Took early to tell how this will play out. I'll be watching it's progress closely, that's for sure.

    1. Hopefully there will be some details revealed, like who will be playing Batman.

  2. I didn't mind about re-booting Spider-Man, and Superman needed it badly, but I definitely think it's too soon to be re-booting Batman! Maybe most people are just thinking of it as a re-cast though...

Glad to see DC is taking things slowly, but still, I'm worried for this franchise.

    1. Glad you agree about Spider-Man's reboot. Interesting though about it more of a recasting, although it does take place in an entirely different universe than Nolan's.

  3. I honestly think this is the best way for them to do this. Nolan's Batman was so tremendous that outright rebooting it right away would have bothered a lot of people. Having Batman be a secondary character in the film is much smarter and Im glad to see that they have a plan for Flash and then Justice League. It FINALLY looks like DC is getting their act together as far as a team-superhero pick is concerned. 2015 is going to be the most INSANE year for movies. New James Bond, Finding Dory, Assassins Creed movie...and I know there are some others that I am missing.

One thing though. I HATE that new Batman logo. Is that what a morbidly obese bat looks like? Hopefully that gets changed ASAP.

    1. Great point, I do wonder though if the movie will be balanced between Batman Superman or mostly Superman with some Batman. It has certainly taken DC long enough to get their stuff together. I completely forgot about the Bond film and Assassin's Creed! Those should be great.

My guess as to why it is so absurdly large is that it needs to fit behind the Superman logo.

  4. If it is done well, I think the Superman/Batman movie could turn out really great.
I've always liked crossovers(especially with superheroes), and I'll be looking forward to seeing how this idea progresses.
People thought the Spider-Man reboot was too soon? That's a bit odd, I thought it worked.

I know, Amazing Spider-Man was great and I do not understand why people hated it.

  5. Yeah, there are no complaints because the Nolanverse Batman will still be the basic Batman for this movie. DKR was set up for a different actor to be batman afterwards The Superverse was set up to be simultaneous with the other DCverses, so it works, because it doesn't quite put the Nolanverse out of order. "other supers are revealed after Superman comes out of hiding, meaning there are already guys being supers in the DCverse pre-Superman", but Bruce Wayne was already making news as a superhero, except of course for the fact that he was officially labeled a rogue vigilante. It'll work.

    1. Ah, excellent point. I wonder if they are going to change Batman's origin for this.

  6. I will see this in theaters if Christian Bale plays Batman. Other then that, I'm not interested in Superman and his films as of now. I like Batman, though, so if they do him right, I will be interested. :)

And I agree, it doesn't make sense that everyone was complaining about Spider-Man but not about these others. Wuuuuuut?! :)

    1. It is almost confirmed that Bale will not be in the movie. However, I am hoping that the new Batman is well cast.

Glad you agree, it makes no sense why people were complaining about the other reboots.

  7. Agree with Jamie.

Not interested in Henry Cavill's version of Supes. And from what I have read, Chris Bale has indicated that he will not playing Bats again.

    B2B.

    1. Typo there.

Chris Bale has indicated that he will not *be* playing Bats again.

    2. While I did not hate Cavill's versions of Supes, I can't blame for not liking him.

  8. I'm a big fan of Nolan's Batman and the new Man of Steel Superman, so the idea of them messing with one or both of those canons makes me beyond ticked off. I understand Christian Bale not wanting to come back, and I'd even settle for Joseph Gordon-Levitt taking his place since TDKR seemed to hint at that, but I'm made really upset at the idea of them rebooting Batman and making a new version of him with Henry Cavill's Superman. I agree about the new symbol, it looks dumb, I guess cause I'm used to the Nolan one. Long story short, I hate the idea at the moment.

    1. Although it was initially rumored that JGL would replace Bale, it has been mostly confirmed that the Nolanverse will have nothing to be with it. Yeah, the Bat symbol could be a lot better.

  9. As much as I love the idea of a batman/superman movie.... I don't want batman re-casted. Christian Bale was perfect in my opinion and I'm gonna have a hard time with someone else.... We shall see I suppose.
