The Wolverine is coming to theaters in less than two weeks! Among a year of inconsistency, will The Wolverine actually not suck? To countdown until The Wolverine, I will be reviewing the first X-Men film and probably X2 in the coming weeks. Hopefully the movie will turn out to be awesome and better than Man of Steel because I am going to see it in theaters when it comes out. After two disappointing X-Men movies, X-Men: First Class turned out to be fantastic, the best X-Men film yet, therefore there is hope for that The Wolverine will be great. With X-Men: Days of Futures Past, maybe The Wolverine will make references to the upcoming film in a way. Also there are rumors that Fox will be making an X-Force film, and since most readers have no idea who they are, I will make a post explaining if the news turns out to be true. Here is the upcoming schedule for the week.
Tuesday: Doctor Who: Blink Review
Wednesday: Firefly Review: Part 3: the Characters
Thursday: Aliens
Friday: X-Men (2000) Review

I'm soooooooooooo psyched! Wolverine is, strangely enough, my favorite X-Men character. Strangely enough, usually it goes from reading the comic books to wanting to see the movie. Somehow, I'm going in reverse on that one, from seeing the movies to wanting to read the comics. I'm so excited!! My favorite X-Men movies are the first one, X-Men, the second one, X2: X-Men United, X3: The Last Stand and X-men Origins: Wolverine. Plus, Hugh Jackman is perfect for the role; he's tough and really sexy in this role!!
ReplyDeleteHow is that strange at all? Wolverine is awesome! Also that is not strange either, most people start liking the characters from the movies first. Yes, Jackman is perfect for role!

I think Wolverine looks good. I've always been a fan of him, so I'm doubting that he'll let me down.
ReplyDeleteX-Men : First Class is probably my favorite.
I don't think he will let us down either. First Class is my favorite too.

Hopefully the movie will be a good one :)I've only seen one X-Men movie, and that was the first to come out(X-Men), but since it was such a good film, I really want to watch the rest of them :D.
ReplyDeleteLooks like some good posts coming up, as well :D
Yes, you would most definitely enjoy X2 and First Class. :D Thanks hope you enjoy my posts. :)

Wolverine has been my favorite superhero since I first encountered him in middle school. When I first saw previews for the first X-Men movie, I thought that Hugh Jackman was way too pretty to play Wolvie, and so I refused to see the movie. Then a friend made me watch it on VHS, and I realized that while he's too tall and too handsome for the role, he nails Wolvie's attitude, and I became an instant convert. Now I can't imagine anyone else in the role.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite X-Men movie is X2: X-Men United, followed by X-Men, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and X3: X-Men's Last Stand. I honestly didn't care much for X-Men: First Class, though I thought Michael Fassbender was brilliant as Lensherr/Magneto.
The new movie has me very scared, and I can't wait to see it.
Hugh Jackman is very different from the in terms of physical appearance, but, as you said, he played the role perfectly. Since he has become Wolverine the alternate universes have been draw to look more like Jackman.
DeleteX2 was fantastic, however I really dislike what Origins did to Deadpool's character.
-James
I actually wasn't familiar with Deadpool (I've just read scattered X-men and most of the Wolverine run from the 80s [?]), so I don't know how he's different from the comics. I haven't really read any of the modern ones either, but that's really cool that they've started drawing him to look a little more like Jackman. Does he keep that sort of '70s Clint Eastwood vibe that he had in the 3 X-Men movies too?
DeleteX2: X-Men United and First Class are my favorites. I really hope The Wolverine is good because Origins was so bad that I nearly walked out of the movies, something I've only done once in my life.
ReplyDeleteLooking foward to your Aliens review.
Those are my two favorites as well. Even though I thought Origins was bad, I did not hate everything. From the early reviews suggest that the new movies does not suck.

I'm not excited for this film since I haven't seen any of the Wolverine origin films. While the X-Men movies was overall good, it didn't really strike up any fangirl feelings from me and it's not my favorite film franchise. I do adore Hugh Jackman so I hope he and the movie do well when they're released. I will look forward to hearing your thoughts on it once you see it. :)

Wolverine Origins movie is mediocre, but still worth watching to a point. Hopefully it will do well. :)

I am looking foward to X-Men: Days of Futures Past. The cast is excellent and Bryan Singer returns to the franchise he directed to begin with.
ReplyDeleteNot sure about this one. Wolverine's best outings were in the first 2 X Men movies. The third one was OK. This seems to be a turkey like X-men Origins: Wolverine.
B2B.
Days of Futures Past is at the top of my most anticipated films, I hope it does not disappoint.
DeleteI agree, the first two X-Men movies were Wolverine's best for sure. I also agree that the third wasn't terrible but not good and Origin was awful.
-James
I am looking forward to The Wolverine, though I honestly don't have high hopes for it (that is sad, I know). I actually liked Origins, but only from a "this is terrible, but fun to watch" viewpoint. Hugh Jackman does a splendid job as Wolverine, so I'm looking forward to seeing him back in action, definitely.
ReplyDeleteI am also looking forward to Days Of Futures Past, but I'm withholding judgement. It's really hard to say whether it will be good or not. I really liked First Class, so I'm hoping it will be. It would be nice to see some better made superhero films, instead of the all-action and no plot. I liked Man Of Steel, but I wanted more out of it, and I think I've come to expect more than just action from films starring such diverse and intense characters.
I would like to see them branch out a bit more, especially to X-Force. I like the characters they've been working with, but there are so many in the X-Men universe, I'd like to see some variety.
Best Wishes,
Alexandra~
This movie has its betting point on the script rather than traditional marvel practice of giving more importance to destruction and action 'overdose'. surprisingly there are no mutants shown other than wolverine and viper like its previous installment...that is to focus totally on lead character which is a good thing. There are fight scenes which are very well executed and make their impression very well on the viewer, thanks to special effects and nice cinematography. Certainly director James Mangold credited for diverging marvel ship from traditional routes to new ones. In this movie wolverine is shown fighting his inner demons throught his journey in Tokyo, japan. and two things are highlighted here.. his nightmares on jean grey and his "curse" of immortality. A fight with silver samurai may surprise viewer on the amount of admantium available on earth i.e. it was shown to be limited in its previous installment. Coming to acting part every one sizzles and off-course hugh jackman is life of movie. Overall movie is entertaining and meeting rather exceeding expectations.A must watch for all fans. Don't forget to watch a post credit scene which makes way for next x-man:days of future past.
