Doctor Who Tag: Part 1.

Banríon An Gheimhridh at Climbing the Alpine Path created a Doctor Who tag and tagged me. It consists of 20 questions about Doctor Who and I plan to answer five questions every week. Also at the end of this post I have tagged a few other Doctor Who fans that I believe might be interested in doing. Allons-y!

Day 1 - When and why did you start watching Doctor Who, and what made you become a fan of it?:
In 2005 my father saw that a new sci-fi show named Doctor Who came on TV and ask me if I wanted to watch it, so we did. Now the rest is history, I have been a fan of the series since the reboot and I have seen every episode since the new series began.

Day 2 - Favorite quotes: So many quotes to choose from! My favorite has to be the iconic:
"People assume that time is a strict progression of cause to effect, but *actually* from a non-linear, non-subjective viewpoint - it's more like a big ball of wibbly wobbly... time-y wimey... stuff."
Anytime that I discuss time travel and such I always quote this line.

Day 3 - Favorite theme songs: "Opening Theme," "Name of the Doctor," "All the Strange Strange Creatures," and "Clara's Theme."

Day 4 - Favorite episodes and favorite scenes/moments: I cannot decide on my favorite scenes and episodes, however a few of my favorite Tennant episodes are: "Blink," and "Girl in the Fireplace." I cannot decide on my favorite Matt Smith episodes because there are so many amazing ones, however "Eleventh Hour," "The Doctor's Wife," "Let's Kill Hitler," "A Good Man Goes to War," and many others would certainly make the list! My favorite Eccleston episode is probably: "The Empty Child."

Day 5 - Least favorite episodes: "The Rings of Akhaten" was the only Smith episode I would consider bad, although it could have been worse. I cannot remember any particularly bad episodes earlier in the series because it has been years since I have seen them and bad episodes are the most forgettable ones. Also most episodes with Slitheen in them are usually not that great.

I am not sure who would actually like to participate in the tag, so if you are not interested, just don't do the tag.

  1. Very true, Eleven has SO many great episodes! I actually like "The Rings of Akhaten" -- when I first watched it, I thought it was too slow and confusing, but the second time I actually enjoyed it. I think it grew on me.

    1. I did not completely hate it because of Clara and the speech at the end was excellent, however the singing part did not really work for me.

  4. Thanks for tagging me! I will save the tag for now, though, and wait to do it after I've seen more (I'd like to reach Matt Smith's 'era' first). But this looks really fun, so I'll totally do this in the future!! :D

  5. The quote you chose is one of the best Doctor Who quotes ever! And it's definitely an iconic one. I like your choices for favorite theme songs. I can never get tired of listening to the opening theme. I look forward to it every time I watch an episode. "Blink” and “The Girl in the Fireplace” are amazing episodes, and all of the 11th Doctor episodes you listed are amazing as well. I haven’t seen “The Empty Child” yet, but I really want to. I think that’s the episode with the boy in the gas mask who says, “Are you my mummy?”. I liked “The Rings of Akhaten”, but I probably wouldn’t have liked it as much if the Doctor’s speech was not part of it. That scene has become one of my favorite moments in Doctor Who. I must admit I was slightly surprised you didn't like it, but now that I think of it, there were faults with it, but I enjoyed it nevertheless.

I enjoyed reading your answers to the first five tag questions! Looking forward to reading your answers to more questions next week. :)

    1. Glad we agree, time travel has never been explained better! I do too, it is the best opening ever. Glad we also agree about the best episodes, I consider them not just classic Doctor Who episodes but among the best science fiction ever made. Other than Captain Jack, "The Empty Child," is a excellent episode and a very creepy one.
I never really hated "Rings of Akhaten," but it was the only episode of Smith's era that I felt slightly lacking. Clara and the Doctor's speech was the best aspects of the episode. :)
