The Pink Panther (2006) review.

Directed by: Shawn Levy
Genre: Comedy, Mystery
Release date: February 10, 2006
Running Time: 93 minutes
MMPA rating: PG

The Good: One of the funniest movies ever, Steve Martin nailed the accent perfectly, I couldn't go 3 minutes without laughing,

Plot: The film opens as Paris Police Chief Inspector Charles Dreyfus (Kevin Kline) tells the story of the Pink Panther diamond theft case. As Dreyfus narrates, a flashback appears of a soccer game between France and China. French coach Yves Gluant (Jason Statham) comes down the stadium, wearing the Pink Panther diamond ring, and kisses his girlfriend, Xania (Beyoncé Knowles), after whispering to her. After the game, Yves dies with a poison dart in his neck and the Pink Panther missing from his hand (thus leading to the animated opening titles, created by Kurtz & Friends). Eager to win the "Medal of Honor" (the Légion d'honneur), Dreyfus appoints clumsy third-class Jacques Clouseau (Steve Martin) to officially handle the case while Dreyfus assembles a team to investigate in secret. Dreyfus intends to take over the case once he has solved it. He appoints Gendarme Ponton (Jean Reno) to work as Clouseau's assistant and secretly keep Dreyfus informed of Clouseau's activities.
Clouseau makes little progress at first, bungling one situation after another. Bizu (William Abadie), a star player who hated Gluant and was the prime suspect, is shot in the head and killed. A witness named Cherie (Kristin Chenoweth) heard Bizou say "Oh, it's you," before being shot; therefore Clouseau tells Ponton to gather all the people in Paris with the name "You". He interviews an old Cantonese woman (credited as "Yu"), but although he claims he understands Chinese, he does not reveal what she said. While at a casino, with the intent of asking some questions of owner Raymond Larocque (Roger Rees), Gluant's business partner, he encounters British Secret Agent 006 Nigel Boswell (Clive Owen, parodying James Bond). Wearing a gas mask to conceal his identity, Boswell poses as Clouseau while stopping a robbery by the notorious "Gas-Masked Bandits". Clouseau receives credit for the deed and is nominated for the Légion d'honneur, much to Dreyfus's annoyance. Watch the movie to see what happens next.

  5. Oh, this is one of my favorite comedies of all time. Right up there with other physical comedies like Liar Liar, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Dumb and Dumber. "Aiee woooold laaaaaeeek toooo baaaheee a ambueguer." That's my phonetic pronunciation of screwed up Clouseau English. Haha! I like to send the clip of that to my friends on FB when they are feeling down. Also "The pen is blue" scene from Liar Liar.
