Year in Review: 2014

2014 was one amazing year for geeks! From Guardians of the Galaxy to Sherlock's long awaited return, 2014 has had something for geeks of almost every fandom! Yet, at the same time, it has been a year that has seen several of our favorite franchises end... Today's post is going to take a look back at the highlights of 2014, and yes, I realize that this post is really late.

Marvel Domination
Without a doubt, Marvel dominated the year in movies! Starting in April, Marvel really hit a homerun with Captain America: The Winter Soldier being possibly the most thematically profound comic book film to date. Next came The Amazing Spider-Man 2, while flawed, was a fun movie that captured the spirit of the comic book, although now we know these movies do not matter anymore. In May, X-Men: Days of Future Past provided us with an exceptional time-travel story that brought the X-Men franchise to its former glory. Guardians of the Galaxy crushed the domestic box office, and even Big Hero 6 received high critical praise and a moderate box office haul.

End of Middle-Earth
Unless The Silmarillion is ever adapted into film, The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies is the last journey into Middle Earth that we will experience on film, at least until some idiots reboot the franchise. Sure, not that many people loved the final chapter, but it certainly delivered on the emotion.

A New Doctor
2015 ushered in the first season with a new Doctor Peter Capaldi. Season 8 had its ups and downs with "Kill the Moon" being one of the worst episodes of Doctor Who since the 2005 reboot, yet we were also treated to the amazingly atmospheric "Flatline." As a whole, it was a solid season of Doctor Who that makes me excited for the next one later this year!

Hooked on a Feeling
Even though Guardians was mentioned in the Marvel Domination, it deserves special mention by getting the entire country "Hooked on a Feeling!" With Guardians of the Galaxy, Marvel has proven that they can adapt even the most obscure source material and have outstanding results in both quality and box office success.

Arrow and The Flash
Despite DC's failure to make quality live-action films, they do success in area, their TV series on the CW, Arrow and The Flash. Thanks to Netflix, I was able to catch up on Arrow's first two seasons, and then start watching the recent third season along with The Flash. Both series, while not perfect, are incredibly fun and showcase that not all DC properties have to feature dull, lifeless, and emo protagonists with comical amounts of over-seriousness.

Parks and Recreation
After watching Guardians of the Galaxy, I felt the need for more Chris Pratt and to satisfy this craving, I discovered Parks and Recreation, a hilarious comedy from the creators of the Office about the Parks and Rec department in the small town named Pawnee. From the lovable characters to the wide variety of humor, Parks and Rec quickly became my favorite comedy series. Unfortunately, earlier this year, the final season finished airing, and while it had a fantastic conclusion, it is still sad to see it go.

The Godfather
Finally, after years of hearing that the Godfather is quote: "The Best Movie of All-Time," I got to see it for myself. As you may know from my review, which you can read here, the first Godfather was a great film, definitely not the best movie ever by any means, but it was good enough to place on my Top 100 Movies List.

Avatar/Korra Franchise Ends
During the fall of last year, I watched the entire Avatar series and caught up to what was currently airing of the Legend of Korra. Of course, as soon as I started watching, Korra aired its final season. While the final season was not all that consistent, the finale was mostly excellent. With that said, as a whole, the Avatar/Korra franchise is one of my favorites from American television. If you want to know more, you can read my reviews of each season, as well as reviews for every episode of Korra's last season.

Three 10 out of 10s
2014 might just be the best year ever in movies, or at least if you are a geek, because we had three films, all of which based on comic books, that completely blew my mind enough to warrant 10 out of 10. Unlike some, 10/10 is not a score that I give out often. In fact, until 2014, there were only eight films deserving of such a score. Of course, the three films that far exceeded expectations were: Captain America: The Winter Soldier, X-Men: Days of Future Past, and Guardians of the Galaxy. However, you are going to make to wait until my J and J Movie Awards before you see which of the three ranks the highest.

What are some of your highlights from 2014? Please comment below and let me know.

Looking Ahead: 2015

While 2014 was a spectacular year for geeks of all kinds, 2015 is setting up to even top last year with several top movies and final seasons of favorite television shows.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens
It is no secret that the Star Wars franchise is my all-time favorite work of fiction, particularly the Original Trilogy, and nothing is more exciting than more Star Wars to watch in the cinemas. While many are skeptical, I am remaining optimistic for several reasons. For one, Disney has turned Marvel into an even more impressive franchise than I could have ever hoped for. From the Avengers to the Winter Soldier, Disney and Marvel are crafting cinematic classics, and I believe that they can do the same with Star Wars. Secondly, J.J. Abrams is a fan of Star Wars, and just like how Peter Jackson turned the Lord of the Rings novels into three of the best films ever, I have confidence in Abrams' abilities, along with the writers. Lastly, everything that has been released about the film, except for the lack of connection with the EU, is amazing and exactly what I want to hear.

Avengers: Age of Ultron
Joss Whedon returns to director Avengers film and since Whedon has yet to disappoint us yet, is there any reason for Age of Ultron not to be the best film of the summer? Seriously, the Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy were incredible, and now Whedon will hopefully even surpass the original Avengers.

Marvel on Netflix
Marvel is not just delivering on the big screen, but also on Netflix. Even though it is unfortunate for non-Netflix subscribers that the series are not airing on television, hopefully Netflix will produce some exceptional small screen miniseries with Daredevil and Jessica Jones coming later this year. In addition to that is the currently airing Agent Carter, which is fantastic so far.

Various New Movies
As you will hear in the (hopefully) upcoming live-stream about the year's top films, aside from the two listed above, there are still several new movies that I am excited to see!

Anime Sequels
Including the currently airing sequels, Aldnoah.Zero 2, Durarara!!x2 Shou, JoJo's Bizarre Adventures: Stardust Crusaders 2, and Kuroko no Basket 3, 2015 is set to feature several more sequels that I am hyped for! From Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works 2nd Season to Knights of Sidonia, there is going to be plenty of new anime that I cannot wait to see. Unfortunately, we will have to wait another year for Attack on Titan season two though.

Doctor Who Season 9
As revealed in the Christmas special, The Doctor and Clara return for another season! Hopefully, season nine will have worked out the issues that season eight had and feature more of the brilliant chemistry between Clara and Twelve.

Parks and Recreation's Final Season
After watching Guardians of the Galaxy, I was hooked on a feeling and I was high on believing that I needed more Chris Pratt and to satisfy that feeling (yeah, bad joke but I couldn't resist!), I discovered Parks and Recreation, a hilarious comedy, co-starring Chris Pratt, from the creators of the Office about the Parks and Rec department in the small town named Pawnee. From the lovable characters to the wide variety of humor, Parks and Rec quickly became my favorite comedy series. Even though I am dreading the upcoming series finale, it has been an amazing ride thus far, and I doubt it will disappoint.

Broadchurch Season 2
Earlier this month, I watched season one of Broadchurch on Netflix and suffice to say, it was brilliant, for the most part anyway. Apparently, the series is already airing in the UK, but the US will not get it until March 4th. Obviously, I am excited to see where the series goes next, and maybe, I will write a review for the first season soon.

What are you looking forward to in 2015? Please comment below and let me know.

2013 Year in Television: Part 3

Here is the continuation of my overview of the TV series that came out last year.

Star Wars: The Clone Wars
2013 featured the fifth and final season of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, one of my all-time favorite television series. It was a sad day when Disney virtually cancelled the series. Hopefully the final episodes will give closure to the series, and prepare us for the upcoming Rebels. As for the fifth season itself, it certainly had its ups and downs, featuring some of the series' best episodes, as well as some of its worst episodes. At least the final episode was one of the most emotional and best conclusions of all-time. Wow, just writing this makes me sad to see it go.

Hell on Wheels
Hell on Wheels, also known as the AMC show that is not named Breaking Bad or The Walking Dead, but almost no one actually watches it. Seriously, Hell on Wheels is an awesome and bada** western series, and the only good western more of fiction since the True Grit remake. It is dark, gritty, and looks great for a television budget. While it may not be up to par with AMC's shows like The Walking Dead, it is still very good, and season three is probably among the series' best. Also, "Hell on Wheels" refers to the railroad, and the series is about building the transcontinental railroad.

Warehouse 13
Why am I still watching Warehouse 13?! After two fun seasons, the show completely jumps the shark. From season three onward, it is almost unbearable at times. However, season four did have one highlight, the episode "The Big Snag." "The Big Snag" took Pete and Myka into an old 1930s noir mystery novel, complete with everything being in black and white, which made me really wish there was a classic noir series that pays homage to the old ones like the Maltese Falcon and the Big Sleep. Other than that, the show was crap, and in a few months the final six episodes of the series will air, and I will probably watch them.

Beware the Batman
Honestly, I was barely able to sit through the first episode of this new Batman animated series. The only reason why I wanted to talk about it was that I wanted to rant about how Cartoon Network cancelled Young Justice in place of Beware the Batman because Young Justice actually appealed to audiences outside of young boys, (e.i. girls, older audiences like myself). Seriously, that is what the executives at Cartoon Network said! On the positives, Cartoon Network's stupidity lead me to seek other animation, which lead me to the world of anime, which is superior to anything made over here.

I had something else planned but since as I have said several times, I am sick so the blog is on autopilot with posts that I had written when I was not sick. Also, thanks everyone for the good wishes and prayers. Hopefully, tomorrow I can manage posting about the concept art that was released for Avengers 2: Age of Ultron.

2013 Year in Television: Part 2

Here is the continuation of my 2013 Year in Television where I briefly discuss every scripted series that I watched last year. This is not a list and the shows are not in any order. For more details on this post series, click here to read the first part of it.

Doctor Who
As I have said many times, Doctor Who is my favorite television series of all-time; I love it and will never stop watching it. In 2013 we received only a few episodes in comparison to what we have previous gotten with the second half of 2012's season, plus the amazing Day of the Doctor special, and the Time of the Doctor, which gave us the saddening departure of Matt Smith's Doctor, albeit one without any logic whatsoever. Compared to previous seasons, season seven is not the best, particularly the second half. There were certainly great episodes like "Hide," and Clara was incredibly charming as the new companion, but it did not have the quality we have had in the last few seasons. Despite this, The Day of the Doctor was fittingly cinematic and absurdly fun.

Almost Human
Almost Human is just fun to watch. You may recognize Karl Urban from movies such as the Lord of the Rings and Star Trek because he plays the main character Detective John Kennex. Almost Human is set in a future where all cops are teamed with an android, and Kennex is teamed with one of the rare models that has emotions named Dorian. By far, the best part of the series is the humorous banter between Urban and Michael Ealy that injects some fun to the normally cliched buddy cop formula. The sci-fi world the series is in set in Blade Runner mixed with the best parts of the recent Total Recall film, and it works surprisingly well. Considering that almost every science-fiction series that I watch, which is virtually all of them, is cancelled after one or two seasons, I have probably doomed the show just by watching it (that was a joke).

Person of Interest
Person of Interest's third season stepped it up in a big way compared to the slightly disappointing season two. We got to see more of everyone's favorite psychopathic computer wiz chick, Root, played brilliantly by Amy Acker, as well as the character introduced from last season, Shaw, had a lot more screen time, which made the series a lot better. The big three episode arc right before the mid-season finale had some of the shows best work, and while it would not rank in my top five, it was a very solid action series.

The Crazy Ones
Robin Williams returned to television last year in The Crazy Ones, a series about a father/daughter team that runs an advertising agency. Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy) plays the daughter, and she is usually humorous. The show itself is sporadic to say the least. Some episodes are positively hilarious, and others have far too much sexual humor that make them almost un-watchable. However, Robin Williams proves that me is one of the funniest men on the planet because when he is given decent material, he is the best.

Sleepy Hollow
Despite a strong pilot, after the following unimpressive three episodes of Sleepy Hollow, I could not watch anymore. It was not bad by any means, I just never felt like watching more of it. Maybe it was because most of the other shows on TV were just better, and of course you cannot watch every show on TV.

2013 TV Awards: Part 1

Today marks the first annual J and J Productions Television awards! For my first TV Awards, I have many different categories ranging from Best Overall Television Series to Best Hero in the year of TV. For my awards, a tie in an award category is acceptable and it happens often due to the sheer amount of great television 2013 presented. Also, this is only the first part of my awards post.

To note, I have yet to watch Breaking Bad (I will eventually) and since I do not have subscriptions to any expensive movies channels like HBO and Showtime, do not expect to see any of those shows winning awards, even if they are of high quality. Also please remember that these awards are based on the episodes that aired in 2013, and most of this post was written in 2013, therefore Sherlock will not be winning any awards, however it is likely to win Best Series of 2014 unless something comes out that is incredibly impressive.

Best Television Series: "The Walking Dead" and "Fate/Zero"
One winner for Best Television Series of the year could not be chosen because 2013 was such an awesome year, therefore both Fate/Zero and The Walking Dead share the honor.
The Walking Dead: The Walking Dead had an excellent second half of season three in the beginning of 2013, and an equally strong second half of season four. Despite the disappointing season three finale, it was a strong end to the series' best season. The beginning of season four felt a little odd at times, but overall, it is a great first half to a season that had an amazing mid-season finale.
Fate/Zero: Many of you have probably never heard of Fate/Zero if you are not familiar with Japanese animation, but Fate/Zero is one of the few series that I believe would appeal to many that are not familiar with Japanese animation. The series has few, if any, of the typical cliches of the genre that often are a turn off for the casual viewer. No weird cartoony scenes, no fan-service, and it is not about a high school student. Fate/Zero is a series about a battle to death for a the ultimate wish granting device, the Holy Grail, by mages that use heroes from the past to battle. The series is comparable to the quality of shows that AMC. Sometimes the show can be a little dialogue heavy and the first episode is exposition heavy, but give it a try. You can watch the first half of the series at this link. Additionally, I believe TV critic Gigguk said it, if Fate/Zero on a channel like AMC or HBO it would become incredibly popular because of the quality the show demonstrates (paraphrasing).
Honorable Mentions: Doctor Who, Agents of SHIELD, Sword Art Online, Hell on Wheels, The Blacklist,

Best Actor: Sam Spader
When Sam Spader was cast as Ultron in the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron, my first thought was: "Spader? Why would he be a good villain" and then I watched The Blacklist. Sam Spader gives one of the best performances I have seen in a long. He has a menacing presence that instantly grabs your attention every time he is on screen. His presence and performance is so fantastic that almost anytime he is not an essential aspect of an episode, the episode suffers.
Honorable Mention: Norman Reedus, Matt Smith, Clark Gregg, Karl Urban, Andrew Lincoln,

Best Comedy/Action Comedy: Almost Human
Since I do not watch many comedies, I have decided to merge the action comedy and comedy genres. While not entirely an action comedy, Almost Human brings a fun 80s buddy cop vibe to a sci-fi world that is combination of Blade Runner and the good aspects of the recent Total Recall film. The show does not revolutionize the genre by any means, but Karl Urban and Michael Ealy's comedic chemistry make a show that could be dull and boring into something that is just fun to watch.
Honorable Mention: Last Man Standing,

Best TV Sci-Fi Series: Marvel's Agents of SHIELD
Being a major sci-fi geek that will watch almost anything science fiction, therefore seeing so many science fiction series in 2013 was awesome! From Almost Human to Sword Art Online, there were so many to chose from, but Agents of SHIELD takes it as my favorite. Although a comic book based series by the strictest of definitions, the series featured many trappings of the sci-fi genre.
Note: Since I wanted to have a show other than Doctor Who win the award for once, I have decided not to include it since only half of a season was actually aired last year.
Honorable Mention: Sword Art Online, Falling Skies, Almost Human

Show We Will Miss the Most: The Clone Wars
2013 featured a saddening, and unexpected end to one of the shows that has created an entirely new generation of Star Wars fans, and one that showed us just how much we needed Star Wars to be great again. Despite a rocky first half of season, The Clone Wars ended with one of episodes ever, not just of the series. At least we will have conclusion with the release of those final episodes in some format unknown format. The end of The Clone Wars, Young Justice, and a few other good animated shows marks the end of an era where American animation was actually good, now all we have are poorly written goofy kid's shows. At least the cancellation forced me to discover a substitute, the superior anime genre.
Honorable Mentions: Young Justice

Most Anticipated Returning Series: The Walking Dead Part 2/Doctor Who Season 8
Even though most of these awards were written last year, I have updated my most anticipated series award, which was Sherlock, since I have already seen all of season three of Sherlock and the first episode of season three officially aired in America yesterday.
The Walking Dead Season 4 Part 2: After the shocking and intense mid-season finale, The Walking Dead's second half of the season will hopefully not disappoint.
Doctor Who Season 8: With Peter Capaldi playing the new incarnation of the Doctor, my excitement to see the new Doctor is growing. Hopefully Steven Moffat will go back to a more classic Doctor Who format where not ever season has to be about universe altering plot devices and Moffat "Space Magic."

What were some of your favorite shows in each category? Do you agree with any of my choices? Please comment below and let me know.

2013 Year in Television

2013 was an excellent year of television with new shows like Agents of SHIELD and returning favorites like Doctor Who and the Walking Dead. This is the first part of my year in review of all the television series that I watched last year focusing on the shows that aired in 2013. This is not a list ranking the best shows, but rather an overview with mini-reviews of each show that I watched. Either later this week or the next I will have a TV Awards post. In addition to being an overview of 2013's TV shows, this is also a list chronicling the shows that I watched throughout the year.

Agents of SHIELD
Being both Joss Whedon's return to television and Marvel's first forte expanding their cinematic into television, Marvel's Agents of SHIELD had a ton of hype riding on it. While the series did disappoint to a certain degree, it was a very strong series overall and one of the better ones of 2013. There are many people that hated the show and others, like myself, enjoyed it a lot. To be honest, as much as I enjoyed the show, it was not quite as good as I had expected. However, it is probably the best show on network television.

The Walking Dead
The Walking Dead, aka the most popular show on cable television, and one of the most popular period. After several years of hearing how great the show was, I finally watched the entire series through season four, and it was even better than expected. Counting season the second half of season three and the first half of season four, The Walking Dead is probably the best show of 2013. As you will read in my upcoming reviews of the each season, it is one of the best character driven stories around, and the action is the best in live-action television as well.

Elementary
Season two of Elementary started with some of the series' best episodes and then it leveled off into something that was kind of average. Thus far, season two is superior to the first half of season one, but compared to the high quality of the other shows on network television, Elementary did not deliver. This fall season of network television is much better than last year, which makes Elementary not seem as good. While most of this post was written in 2013, having now seen the new fantastic season of Sherlock, Elementary's flaws are even more apparent than before. Also, the second half of season one aired last year, and you can read my review for that by clicking here.

The Blacklist
The Blacklist, aka, James Spader being freaking awesome. The Blacklist is a thriller series about Raymond "Red" Reddington, an ex-con and number one on the FBI's Most Wanted List that offers his "Blacklist" of the top criminals in exchange for his freedom, plus one other strange request: he will only talk to a rookie FBI profiler Elizabeth Keen. The series starts strong with a few thrilling opening episodes, then drags a bit in the middle with any episode that does not heavily feature Spader, and then ends with one of the better finales of 2013. The Blacklist easily takes the most surprising new show of 2013, mostly because of James Spader's awesomeness.

Fate/Zero
Wow! What an amazing series! Technically, Fate/Zero premiered in 2011, however the English Dub was not released until late 2013, which is when I started watching this incredible show. Fate/Zero is about the 4th Holy Grail War where various contenders battle using heroes from different eras, such as Alexander the Great and King Arthur. Fate/Zero is a unique blend of contemporary fantasy, suspense, action, historical fiction, and pure intensity. Watch the show; it is brilliant! Warning though, due to the violence the show is not intended for younger audiences. My full review for the series will be post in the next couple of weeks.

Vikings
Vikings is History Channel's first forte into a scripted television series, and for a freshman effort, it wasn't bad. The show had some major flaws like major weirdness and too much sexual content, but other than that, Vikings did a good job at giving us some realistic Viking action. Sometimes the series focuses a little too much on the culture of the vikings, which can be cool, but it does distract from the story. Overall, Viking is a solid show that I will most definitely will continue to watch, but it is far from a classic.

What are some the shows that you watched in 2013? Have you seen, or are you interested in the any of the shows that I have discussed thus far? Please comment below.

2013 in Review

2013 has come to a close and now it is time to look back at the things that have accomplished in world of entertainment. This is only the first part in a series of Year in Review posts that are about different things like the year of television in review as well as the movies that I am most looking forward to next year. However, since I have yet to see all of the major movies that came out last year, I cannot make an accurate list of my favorite films from 2013,  but I will have a Television Awards post. For this post in particular, I will be covering the things that I have seen and done for the first time throughout all of 2013, with the exception of movies that I watched in 2013 because that is another post entirely. Basically, these are the older movies, TV shows, and fandoms that I have started during the year.

Firefly
Ever since watching the Joss Whedon's masterpiece, The Avengers, my interest in his work grew exponentially, and thanks to my friends Buruk and Maegen heavily recommending Firefly, I watched it and loved almost every minute of it. Firefly has one of the best group of characters ever developed. Joss Whedon's amazing ability to write flawless sequences of witty and smart dialogue is showcased perfectly during the series. I am now proud to say that I am a Browncoat.
Firefly Review: Part 1.
Firefly Review Part 2: the Characters.
Firefly Review Part 3: the Characters.
Serenity Review (Firefly Review Part 4).
Firefly Review Part 5: Episode Breakdown.

The Walking Dead
Last year I finally watched the absurdly popular television, The Walking Dead. Despite my original skepticism, the Walking Dead is one of my favorite shows on television. I have now completely caught up to the series' current episodes, and now I am eagerly awaiting season four. In the near future, I plan to post reviews of each season and when season four starts, I might review each episode as it airs similar to how I review Agents of SHIELD. A quick shout out to my friends Rebecca and Jamie for convincing me to watch the show.

Anime
Back in July of 2013 Stilwater at In the Shade of My Wide-Brimmed Hat recommended Death Note in a post about Anime, and since I had nothing better to do, I decided to give the show a try, and to my surprise, it turned out to be one of the best things I have ever seen. After that, I watched what is essentially the Citizen Kane of anime series, Cowboy Bebop, and then I enjoyed that, which lead to me watching various series and then some movies. Even though anime can be weird, with the proper amount of research, you can find a lot of great series that are not different than what is on television in America, except much of it is higher quality. I have already posted several reviews, and I have even more reviews written, which I will be posting throughout the year. My favorite genres so far have been suspense thriller, action, sci-fi, fantasy, and mind bender. In general, my preferred broad genre is Seinen and with an occasional high quality Shōnen series like FMA: Brotherhood. Here is a list of all the series and movies that I have seen thus far in roughly the order that I watched the series. Also I have split the list between the series I have seen in their entirety, the ones that I am currently watching, and the ones that I watched part of before stopping.

Completed Series: Death Note, Cowboy Bebop, Code Geass, Angel Beats!, Baccano!, Neon Genesis Evangelion, IS: Infinite Stratos, Eden of the East, Steins Gate, Fate/Zero, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya,
Currently Watching: Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Sword Art Online, Accel Woirld,
Unfinished Series: Future Diary, Fairy Tail,
Movies: Akira, Cowboy Bebeop: The Movie, The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, Ghost in the Shell, Interstella 55555, Princess Mononoke, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, Castle in the Sky, Summer Wars, Perfect Blue, Spirited Away, Evangelion 1.0: You Are (Not) Alone, Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance,

Alien Franchise
After years of seeing the first two Alien films on many top science fiction movies list, I finally watched Alien and its sequel Aliens. Even though the first Alien was great, the sequel Aliens even better! The movies have tons of suspense, action, thrills, and intensity. While they are not my favorite movies, they are among the best thrillers ever made. Also, death by facehugger is probably the worst death in all of cinema history, and Ellen Ripley is the best heroine of the 80s.

Watched Some "Classics"
Even though both Godfather movies, Pulp Fiction, and Fight Club are still on my need to watch list, during 2013 I finally watched the "classics" Citizen Kane, The Wizard of Oz, Akira, The Shawshank Redemption, and 2001: A Space Odyssey. Watching those movies was an interesting experience. At least I can now say that I am seen them.

Playing Top Video Games
My way of buying video games is a bit unusual, unless said game is a must own right now, I typically wait for the games to go on sale between Thanksgiving and Christmas and just buy all of the ones that I was interested in at half price or less. Among the games that I have enjoyed the most last year and the beginning of this year are Bioshock Infinite, Tomb Raider, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, XCOM: Enemy Within, Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, and Batman: Arkham: Origins. After I finish the games I will hopefully have reviews for them whenever I get around to playing each one throughout the year.

Overall, 2013 was a great year. Despite college slowing down my blogging and media consumption, I have become a fan of several new franchises and genres.

Please check back next week for my rundown of all the television shows that I watched in 2012, which is quite a few, as well as awards for the best shows on TV. In addition to that, I have some posts about what I am most looking forward to in the future.
