Top 4 Movies Released on the 4th of July

Happy Independence Day everyone! Today is the day to celebrate the founding of the United States of America! In the past, I have posted about the most patriotic movies, war films, and other movies related to the 4th of July, so to mix things up, I am ranking the Top 4 movies to be released on 4th of July weekend! Why only four? Because it is the 4th of July; so let’s get started!

4: Independence Day
Ironically ranking 4th on the list, Independence Day is the classic alien invasion story that any list related to the 4th of July must include. Roland Emmerich's alien action flick is a lot of fun to watch, and the destruction of the White House is one of the most iconic special effects shots in cinema. With that said, as a film, it is not exactly exceptional, but is worth the watch if you somehow have not seen it.

3: Back to the Future
Few films pack so much pure entertainment into 116 minutes than Back to the Future! From the clever script to the witty dialogue to the quirky sense of humor, Back to the Future is the definition of a classic. Describing why Back to the Future is such a great film is incredibly difficult. It is just fun, but smart fun. Plus, I love time-travel stories!

2: Terminator 2: Judgment Day
Before Titanic and Avatar, James Cameron actually made a few freaking awesome sci-fi films and there are none better T2. Terminator 2: Judgment Day is a classic sci-fi blockbuster for a reason, and it still stands the test of time today. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the sequels.

1: Spider-Man 2
While there were still some truly great comic book movies before Spider-Man 2, it captures the inner struggle of a hero trying to decide what he has to sacrifice better than any other. In terms of entertainment, Spider-Man 2 holds up amazingly well more than a decade later with the train fight continuing to be one of the best action scenes ever filmed. Also, there are so many shots with Spider-Man in front of the American flag, how is it not patriotic! (obvious joke) The Amazing Spider-Man film could have placed on this list, albeit much lower, but I decided not to include two Spider-Man films.

What are your favorites? Let me know in the comments and have a fun Independence Day.

Honorable Mentions: The Amazing Spider-Man, The Patriot, Transformers
