Sherlock Returns with a New Special

Sherlock returns! Yes, BBC's Sherlock returns with an upcoming 90 minute special. From the above clip, this special appears to be fun self-aware throwback to the original stories set in Victorian England. Apparently, after the special, the series will return with its usual three episode season. Obviously, I am excited for this new special! I am curious as to whether this is going to be entirely self-aware or only that small part of it, and if it is going to adapt one of the original stories. Either way, this should be a blast to watch! What do you think of this Sherlock special? Please comment below and let me know. Also, sorry everyone if I am late commenting. My computer is dying, so I have to figure out how to fix it.

  2. No doubt this is gonna be awesome. I just really want to know what the explanation for it's being set in the "proper" era is! John's mustache is fantastic. I knew he could grow something real there! :P

  3. I'M SO EXCITED. My initial reaction to just hearing about this was an obscene swear I can't repeat here XD But I haven't watched the clip, I refuse! I'm going to wait till it comes out so I can enjoy it all then! BUT I CAN'T WAIT I'M SO EXCITED.

  4. I'm psyched. Especially since the teaser trailer used the music from the Jeremy Brett series, and reportedly the opening credits will mimic the Brett credit sequence -- such a great hat-tip.

  5. Yep, I'll be the sourpuss in all this cheerleading. I think this clip is a little TOO self-referential/self-aware, TOO comical. As someone who has struggled w/"Sherlock" (particularly the rabid fanbase that either pretends or dismisses any non-Cumberbatch versions of Holmes), I can't get enthusiastic about this one. I've tried, so, SO hard to embrace "Sherlock", but can't, and this isn't building my excitement none.
