Avengers Character Analysis Part 1.

As stated in my previous Avengers review. I will be analysing each character and what they contributed to the overall movie and my favorite parts of the movie they were in.
Warning Complete Spoilers for The Avengers movie, if you have not seen The Avengers Click Here to read my spoiler free review and then go to the theater and watch The Avengers. Then come back and read this post.

Captain America

Captain America has always been my favorite Avenger. He was introduced with "Punching bag" scene, which we saw a glimpse of during the end of Captain America: The First Avenger. Cap was portrayed very well and I like that he did give orders and was the leader of the team during the epic battle at the end. Chris Evan's performance was even better than his performance in Captain America: The First Avenger. He had a very commanding presence and still had that old fashioned soldier mentality but he is still adjusting to the modern world. When he was ordering the team and he came around to Hulk and said "Hulk..........Smash!", that was hilarious and worked great. I also really liked his line when Thor dropped in and grabbed Loki. Then Black Widow said "But their basically gods!", Cap replies "Ma'am, there's only One God, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that." Not only does Captain America have a great moral code he is most likely Christian from that quote. The costume looked a lot better in the movie than in the trailer and screen stills. It actually good but it still looked better when he did not wear the helmet.

Quotes:
"All right, listen up! Until we can close that portal up there, what we need is containment. Barton: I want you on that roof, eyes on everything. Call out patterns and strays. Stark: you've got the perimeter. Anything gets more than three blocks out, you turn it back or you turn it to ash. Thor: you've gotta try and bottleneck that portal, slow them down. You've got the lightning - light the b*stards up" *Turns to Black Widow: "You and me: we stay here on the ground, keep the fighting here. And Hulk: smash!

"Ma'am, there's only one God, and I'm pretty sure he doesn't dress like that."
"Big man in a suit of armour. Take that off, what are you? "
"You came here with a mission, sir, trying to get me back to the world?"
"I've been asleep for 70 years. I think I've had enough rest."

 Iron Man

Iron Man is easily the most popular of The Avengers and did have slightly more dialogue than the other members of the team but the amount of actual screen time is about the same. Robert Downy Jr. was, as always, excellent as Tony Stark. He really owns the role. Although he was still kind of a jerk, Tony was much less of one in The Avengers compared to Iron Man 2. For those who do not think of Tony as a hero, although I always have, he proved it in The Avengers almost giving his life for the city of New York. The scene did lose a little tension since there is going to be an Iron Man 3 movie but I thought it could have left his fate unknown until Iron Man 3.

Quotes:
"[to Bruce Banner] You really have got a lid on it, haven't you? What's your secret? Mellow jazz? Bongo drums? Huge bag of weed?"
"We have a Hulk."
"You have reached the life model decoy of Tony Stark, please leave a message."
"You're missing the point! There's no throne, there is no version of this where you come out on top. Maybe your army comes and maybe it's too much for us but it's all on you. Because if we can't protect the Earth, you can be d*mned well sure we'll avenge it!"
"[to Captain America] You might have missed a couple things, y'know, doing time as a Capsicle."
"[to Bruce Banner] You really have got a lid on it, haven't you? What's your secret? Mellow jazz? Bongo drums? Huge bag of weed?"
"Genius, billionaire, playboy, philanthropist."
"[Discussing S.H.I.E.L.D] An intelligence agency that *fears* intelligence? Historically, not awesome."
"Better clench up, Legolas."
"Shakespeare in the park?"
"Doth mother know you weareth her drapes?"

Thor

Chris Hemsworth was great as Thor again. He had great moments with Loki, trying to convince to come back with him. His fight with Hulk was amazing, Thor's fighting style was more agile and the way he used Mjolnir was perfect. Before the movie I was really wondering how Thor was going to join since he was in Asgard but it was done very well. Some are complaining that it was not explain enough how Thor is sent back to Earth but what Loki said, which I cannot remember exactly was he said, was enough explanation.

Quote:
"You people are so petty... and tiny."
Thor: He has an army, called the Chitauri. They're not of Asgard or any world known. He means to lead them against your people. They will win him the Earth. In return, I suspect, for the Tesseract.
Steve Rogers: An army. From outer space.
Bruce Banner: So he's building another portal. That's what he needs Erik Selvig for.
Thor: Selvig?
Bruce Banner: He's an astrophysicist.
Thor: He's a friend.
Natasha Romanoff: Loki has them under some kind of spell. Along with one of ours.
Steve Rogers: I wanna know why Loki let us take him. He's not leading an army from here.
Bruce Banner: I don't think we should be focusing on Loki. That guy's brain is a bag full of cats. You can smell crazy on him.
Thor: Have a care how you speak. Loki is beyond reason, but he is of Asgard. And he is my brother.
Natasha Romanoff: He killed eighty people in two days.
Thor: He's adopted.
"I have unfinished business with Loki."

Hulk/Bruce Banner
Everyone thought that re-casting Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner and not have Edward Norton reprise his role was  a bad idea but Ruffalo delivered. He was perfect as Banne, it would be hard to imagine Norton delivering his lines as good as Ruffalo. No disrespect to Norton, who was a good Bruce Banner, Ruffalo nailed it perfectly. He was humorous when he needed to be and played off Robert Downy Jr. really well. The CGI Hulk was "Incredible!" He has to be the most realistic CGI character ever in a film. The Hulk actually looked like Mark Ruffalo and looked like the Comic Book version. He was bigger and bulkier like he should be. The way he interacted with other characters looked very real. Some say that "Hulk stole the show", while I would say that he was awesome smashing things, but the characters all had about the same amount of screen time. Many of the funniest scenes in the movie was when confronted Loki and grabs him and "SMASHED!" That was hilarious! Also when Hulk got revenge on Thor by punching him during the battle, was classic.

Quotes: "That's my secret, Cap, I'm always angry."
"Puny god."
"Hulk Smash!"
"I got low. I didn't see an end so I put a bullet in my mouth and the other guy spit it out."
"That's my secret Cap, I'm always angry."
"[upon Natasha drawing her gun at his outburst] I'm sorry, that was mean. I just wanted to see what you'd do. How about we find another way in which you don't use that and the other guy doesn't make a mess?"

5 Things to do Until The Avengers.

This post is about 5 things we highly recommend you do if you can't wait to see The Avengers.

Watch The Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes.
You may be thinking because it is animated it is a dumb kids show but it isn't. While the show is "family friendly" it has depth. It explores the relationship character between the characters. If you want to see more Captain America or Asgard this is a must see. The series is not dierectly related to The Avengers movie. Below I have posted the first episode of the series. If you don't care about watching the series but you like Captain America watch the third and fourth videos below. They are Captain America's origin episodes.
This is the first episode of the series.

Watch the episodes below if you like Captain America.

Play Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 and 2.

Marvel Ultimate Alliance is a video game were you can create your Ultimate dream team of Marvel heroes including Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Spider-Man, and many others. Marvel Ultimate Alliance 1 comes on most video game consoles including PC.

Watch The Ultimate Avengers Movies.

The Ultimate Avengers movie is not a kid's movie it is rated PG-13. The movie is good and if you want to more Avengers we recommend you watch both Ultimate Avengers 1 and 2.

Watch or Re-Watch The Avengers Movies in Order.

We are going to re-watch all of The Avengers movies in order a month before the movie comes out. You should know the order to watch them in if read our earlier post but if you didn't here is the order.

Watch Marvel's Other Awesome Movies.

If you liked any of The Avengers related movies you need to check out Marvel's other awesome movies. Here are some of the noteable ones.

The Avengers Guide Part 11: After The Avengers.

The Avengers Guide Part 11: After The Avengers.
This part of The Avengers Guide is about what will happen after The Avengers movie.
JT/King Valun at The Window on the South asked what does the acronym S.H.I.E.L.D. spelled out? It stands for "Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division"

Movies That Are Coming.

Iron Man 3 is coming in 2013. Unfortunately Jon Favreau is not Directing Iron Man like he did in Iron Man 1 and 2. Shane Black is Directing Iron Man 3. We are not sure if we like Shane Black as the Director since he has very little experience dicrecting movie. This will only be his second movie he has directed.

Thor 2 is coming in 2013. Unfortunately Kenneth Branagh most likely will not direct the next Thor movie and the director he was going to replace him also quit so Thor 2 does not have a director as of right now but I hope Kenneth Branagh comes back to direct the sequel.

Movies That Might Come.
A sequel to Captain America: The First Avenger is very likely to happen but not until 2014 after Thor 2 and Iron Man 3. There is not any information about the movie since it will not be coming out until 2014 at the earliest.

A sequel to The Avengers movie is also very likely to happen. It probably won't be until 2014 or 2015 at the earliest. We don't if they are going make the movie with the original characters from the first Avengers movie but they might make it with a new Avengers roster. But we hope they will stay with the original roster and add a few new characters.

Movie That We Want.
S.H.I.E.L.D Movie
A movie about S.H.I.E.L.D with Nick Fury, Hawkeye and Black Widow would be a better idea than a stand alone movie Black Widow or Hawkeye and they can include some other S.H.I.E.L.D in also.

This is the last part of The Avengers guide but don't forget to check back tomorrow for the "5 Thing to do Until The Avengers" post. Please tell us if you have a idea for another part for The Avengers Guide than we will make it.

The Avengers Guide Part 10: 5 Villains We Want in the Sequel.

This part of The Avengers Guide is about 5 Avengers Villains or evil organization from the comics that we want in a possible Avengers sequel.
Some of the following is from Wikipedia.com.

Kang the Conqueror

Some might think that his costume might looks a little ridiculous but he is a very good villain.  He comes from a very advanced alternate earth future were technology has advanced well beyond what The Avengers have in their time.  Unfortunately there not any videos of his origin like other characters. His origin is to long to post on our blog but here is the link if you interested. Also if you want to know more watch Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes TV series it is the best animated series other The Clone Wars.

Baron Zemo and the Masters of Evil
Baron Zemo was a German scientist in WWII was one of Captain America's best villains other the Red Skull. In modern day he formed The Masters of Evil to battle The Avengers. I have a copy of the first comic book that The Master of Evil were so I know the origin. Also if you want to know more watch Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes TV series. Unfortunately there not any videos of his origin like other characters. Their origin is to long to post on our blog but here is the link if you interested.

Thanos

Thanos' power rivals that of even Thor and in the comics had to be defeated by Odin father of Thor to keep him from enslaving Earth.

Thanos's Origin.
Thanos was born on Titan, a moon of Saturn, to Mentor and Sui-San. Thanos is born with the Deviant gene and as resembles the Deviants—the Eternals' cousin race—more than his own people. Although treated fairly by his race, he is mindful of his appearance and becomes distant, only keeping company with his brother Eros (Starfox). During his childhood, he becomes fascinated with nihilism and death, eventually falling in love with its embodiment, Mistress Death. As an adult, Thanos uses bionics and mysticism to become the most powerful of the Titan, and is often referred to as the Mad Titan.

H.Y.D.R.A.

You may recognize H.Y.D.R.A from Captain America: The First Avenger. H.Y.D.R.A is a evil organization that most often battles S.H.I. E.L.D and is in league with many super villains including the Red Skull.
H.Y.D.R.A.'s History
HYDRA's history as presently depicted in Marvel Universe continuity is a long, tumultuous and convoluted one, spanning millennia ago to the third dynasty of Egypt, with all references to the ancient group disappearing around the Renaissance. Its return came in the decades from the end of the Second World War up to the present day, tied directly to surviving fugitive members of governments of Nazi Germany and the Empire of Japan.

A select few of the more politically-oriented members of the order of the evil mystical ninja known as the Hand would be recruited to form the rebirth of HYDRA as a cabal of Japanese ultranationalists who plotted to overthrow the Japanese government, assassinate the prime minister, and install a right-wing anti-communist government, which would rearm Japan.

Shortly upon joining HYDRA, Von Strucker seized control of the organization from its Japanese founders, and moved HYDRA's operations to a private island in the Pacific, named Hydra Island. The original HYDRA Island was invaded by the Leatherneck Raiders and the Japanese Samurai Squad, and the base was destroyed. Strucker slowly steered the organization towards the goal of world domination. That campaign brought him into conflict with Charles Xavier and the future Magneto among others, and once HYDRA became more brazenly public in its operations, eventually led to the creation of the original agency known as S.H.I.E.L.D. specifically to counter HYDRA's threat to world security. After apparently assassinating S.H.I.E.L.D.'s first executive director, Nick Fury was appointed as executive director. HYDRA agents attempted to assassinate Nick Fury before his appointment as S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Director, but failed.

The Avengers Guide Part 9: 5 Avengers We Want in the Sequel.

The Avengers Guide Part 9: 5 Avengers We Want in the Sequel.
Sorry for not posting this yesterday. I lost internet and couldn't post it.
This part of The Avengers Guide is about 5 Avengers characters from the comics that we want in a possible Avengers sequel.
Some of the following is from Wikipedia.com.

Hank Pym

Hank Pym aka Ant-Man, Giant Man, Goliath and Yellow Jacket was one of the founding members of The Avengers.

Powers and abilities
Henry Pym is a scientific genius with a Ph.D in biochemistry, along with expertise in the fields of quantum physics; robotics/cybernetics; artificial intelligence, and entomology. The character discovered the subatomic "Pym particles" that enable mass to be shunted or gained from an alternate dimension, thereby changing the size of himself or other beings or objects; and is the creator of the robot Ultron.

After constant experimentation with size-changing via ingested capsules and particle-filled gas, Pym is eventually able to change size at will, and mentally generate Pym particles to change the sizes of other living beings or inanimate objects. Pym retains his normal strength when "ant" size, and possesses greatly increased strength and stamina when in "giant" form, courtesy of the increased mass. Pym’s costume is synthetic stretch fabric composed of unstable molecules and automatically adapts to his shifting sizes.

The character also uses a cybernetic helmet for achieving rudimentary communication with ants and other higher order insects. As Yellowjacket, Pym wears artificial wings and has bio-blasters called "stingers" built into his gloves. Pym also carries a variety of weaponry, provisions, and scientific instruments, which are shrunken to the size of microchips and stored in the pockets of his uniform.

Wasp

Wasp is also one of the foubding members of The Avengers and wife of Hank Pym above.

Powers and abilities

Making use of the cellular implantation of sub-atomic Pym particles, the Wasp possessed the power to alter her physical size, causing her body's mass to be shunted to or gained from an alternate dimension known as Kosmos. She was able to shrink to a minimum of several centimeters or grow to a maximum of several hundred feet. Smaller or larger sizes were possible but the exertion began to put a strain on her body. Initially, these abilities stemmed from use of a Pym particle gas released from special capsules, and later biochemical augmentation by Henry Pym. Over time, however, her body absorbed enough particles to cause cellular mutation due to repeated exposure to Pym particles to allow her to alter her size at will.
At miniature size, her strength level increased as her body's mass was compacted. At giant size, her strength and endurance increased geometrically with her height, reaching superhuman levels. Despite the advantages of giant size, Janet usually preferred to remain the diminutive Wasp, calling on her growth power only in times of extreme emergency.
At miniature size, the Wasp grew a pair of translucent insect wings from her back, a result of genetic modifications provided by Hank Pym. These granted her the power of flight, at speeds up to 40 mph (64 km/h).
The Wasp was able to harness and augment her body's natural bio-electric energy, releasing it from her hands in powerful electrical force bursts, which she called her "stinger blasts", "stingers", or"wasp's stings." Originally, she required special wrist devices to produce these but again, Pym particle absorption allowed her to create the ability unaided.
The Wasp's genetic modifications also granted her the ability to sprout small prehensile antennae from her temples which allowed her to telepathically communicate with and control insects. However, this was an ability she rarely used.

Black Panther

Although Black Panther is not one of the original founding members he is one of the earlier Avengers.

Powers and abilities

The title "Black Panther" is a rank of office, chieftain of the Wakandan Panther Clan. As chieftain, the Panther is entitled to eat a special heart-shaped herb which, in addition to his mystical connection with the Wakandan Panther god, grants him superhumanly acute senses and increases his strength, speed, stamina, and agility to the peak of human development. He has since lost this connection and forged a new one with another unknown Panther deity, granting him augmented physical attributes as well as a resistance to magic. His senses are so powerful that he can pick up a prey's scent and memorize tens of thousands of individual ones.

As king of Wakanda, the Panther has access to a vast collection of magical artifacts, advanced Wakandan technological and military hardware, as well as the support of his nation's wide array of scientists, warriors, and mystics. The Wakandan military has been described as one of the most powerful on Earth. His attire is the sacred vibranium costume of the Wakandan Panther Cult.

He is a skilled hunter, tracker, strategist, politician, inventor, and scientist—he has a Ph.D. degree in physics from Oxford University. Considered one of the eight smartest people on the planet, he is a genius in physics and advanced technology, and is a brilliant inventor.

T'Challa is a rigorously trained gymnast and acrobat, showing mastery in various African martial arts as well as contemporary ones and fighting styles that belong to no known disciplines.

In Volume 3, writer Christopher Priest expanded the Panther's day-to-day arsenal to include equipment such as an "energy dagger", a vibranium-weave suit, and a portable supercomputer, the "Kimoyo card." In Volume 4, writer Reginald Hudlin introduced such specialized equipment as "thrice-blessed armor" and "light armor" for specific tasks, and for a short while outfitted him with the Ebony Blade of the Black Knight.

Vision
Vision is also one of the earlier members of The Avengers. If he was in the Hank Pym, Wasp, and the villain Ultron would have to be in the movie.

 Powers and abilities
The Vision is described as being "...every inch a human being—except that all of his bodily organs are constructed of synthetic materials." The Solar Jewel on the Vision's forehead absorbs ambient solar energy to provide the needed power for him to function, and he is also capable of discharging this energy as optic beams; with this, he can fire beams of infrared and microwave radiation. In extreme cases he can discharge this same power through the Solar Jewel itself which amplifies its destructive effects considerably, albeit at the cost of losing most of his resources. The Vision also possesses the ability to manipulate his density, which at its lowest allows flight and a ghostly, phasing intangibility, and at its heaviest provides superhuman strength, immovability, and a diamond-hard near invulnerability. The Vision is capable of reaching a density ten times greater than that of depleted uranium. On one occasion, the Vision uses this extreme durability to render unconscious the villain Count Nefaria. The Vision often uses his ability to alter his density against foes, by phasing an intangible hand through them and then partially re-materializing it—a process he describes as "physical disruption." This effect typically causes great pain and results in incapacitation, as is the case when used against the Earth-712 version of the hero Hyperion. Being an artificial life-form/android of sorts, the Vision possesses multiple superhuman senses—as well as superhuman stamina, reflexes, speed, agility, and strength (even without being at high density). The Vision was trained in unarmed combat by Captain America, and is an expert in the combat use of his superhuman powers. The Vision is an expert on his own construction and repair, and is a highly skilled tactician and strategist. The Vision controls his density by interfacing with an unknown dimension to/from which he can shunt or accrue mass, thus becoming either intangible or extraordinarily massive. The Vision also possesses superhuman analytical capabilities, and has the ability to process information and make calculations with superhuman speed and accuracy.
The Vision of the Young Avengers is able to use Iron Lad's neuro-kinetic armor to recreate the former Vision's abilities, including strength; density manipulation, and flight. The solar cell on the Vision's forehead can also emit a beam of infrared and microwave radiation. The Vision is also capable of energy and holographic manipulation, shapeshifting, and time travel.

War Machine

War Machine was not an Avenger until later on in the comic but since he was in the Iron Man 2 movie there is a good chance that will be in one at some point. He might even make a cameo in the up coming Avengers movie.

I will not post his powers and ablilities since it might spoil the Iron Man 2 movie but they very similar to Iron Man's.

Don't forget to check back tomorrow for Part 10 of The Avenger Guide.
