IGN's Top 25 Comic Book Movie List Part 3: 8-1.

While X-Men started the new wave of comic book movies, Spdier-Man perfected it. Spider-Man is a movie that I could watch a hundred times and never get tired of watching. It basically got me started liking loving Comic Book movies, while I did watch the first X-Men movie and the 90s Batman movies first, Spider-Man was the movie that changed everything. It is still one of the all time classics.

The first X-Men movie was good, X2 was stunning. It really should rank higher than Batman Begins.  

I have not seen Road to Perdition. Since Tom Hanks and Paul Newman are in it, I will probably check it out.

I mostly agree with the ranking. X-Men: First Class definitely deserves to be in the Top 5. It was what the X-Men franchise need after a majorly disappointing Wolverine movie.

Batman Begins is a good movie but it is ludicrous that it is so high on the list. Sure it is a good movie that revived the Batman franchise, yet there were some major flaws that hindered the movie from true greatness. One of the major ones being, the horribly choreographed and dark lighted action scenes. It is a prime example of how not to make an action scene.  

Although Superman was the first super hero and Superman The Movie was the first Comic Book movie, it is not the 3rd best Comic Book movie. It is a very good movie but you can not have it this high just because it was the first Comic Book movie does not justify having this high on the list.

Spider-Man is consider by some to be Marvel's best. I cannot completely disagree. Spider-Man 2 is one of my all time favorites movies period. It has just about everything that you could want in a great movie.

How predictable. Did anyone really think that IGN was not going to have The Dark Knight at number one? Although it is very overrated, it is still a great movie. While it would rank around 8th or 9th on my Comic Book movies list, I would not really have a problem with The Dark Knight's ranking if it was hailed as the quote: "Best Comic Book Movie Ever" without compromise, and some even go as far to say that it is the "Best Movie of All Time". I would not really mind that if around 20% of people said that The Dark Knight was their favorite Comic Book movie, yet if you even try to say that The Dark Knight is anything but perfect some people think you are a lunatic or something. Sure Heath Ledger was truly excellent, but seriously people are ignoring the some of the major flaws in the movie, which I will be posting one below.

Here are two major flaws that would have easily ended The Dark Knight, I am not saying that other movies on the list are flawless but the best ones do not have flaws this noticable.

Why didn't Batman just slow down and run the Joker over with his Batpod? It would have put Joker in the hospital and no one else would have to die. The Joker does not have any powers, so why is he harder to knock out than any other person. He does not have any gadgets or training that would make him any better than any other thug.

IGN's Top 25 Comic Book Movie List Part 2: 16-9

Thor at number 16th! Are they joking! This is so much better than 300 and Watchmen it is not even funny. Most real critics would agree that Thor is a better movie than the two movies listed below. This is the biggest mistake of the list. Thor had excellent family drama and acting. It is so much better than many of the movies on this list. IGN really screwed it up with this ranking.

Although 300 has some really good action, that is all it has. The plot was simple, the acting was over the top, and it was all around ridiculous. While I would consider it in my Top 25 Comic Book movies just for the action, it is not a good movie.

Watchmen is based on the most highly acclaimed Graphic Novel (comic book the size of a novel) by Alan Moore. It is the only Graphic Novel to appear on TIME magazine Top 100 Novels list. While Watchmen did have some good parts in it like the character Rorschach, who is one of favorite comic book characters, it tried to hard and ended being kind of mixed. It is not a bad movie but not a great one.

I have not seen this for obvious reasons.

It has been around 10 years since I have seen this but I will probably agree with the ranking after a re-watch of the film because I am a fan of the TV series.

Now this should be at least a little higher! While I did not expect it to make the Top 5, it should have an least made the Top 10. For some reason Captain America and Thor did not received enough positive reviews.

I have yet to this also. I might watch it since Viggo Mortensen is in it.

Now this is ridiculous! How could they seriously have Iron Man this low on the list after having in the Top 5 on the previous year's list?! Iron Man is tied for the highest rated Comic Book movie on Rotten Tomatoes.com. This is were IGN really butchered the list. They gave it 4 out of 5 Stars! That is higher than most of the movies ahead of it, they are ridiculously inconsistent!

IGN's Top 25 Comic Book Movie List Part 1: 25-17.

Since The Avengers has recently been released I figured I should have a post about comic book movies in general. Note, this list was made last year right after the Summer movie season, so The Avengers would not be included.

This is IGN.com's list of their Top 25 Comic Book Movies. IGN is one of the largest movie and video game review website and they often make Top 25 Lists of movies and video games. Since many other sites have given their opinions of their lists I will post mine. Some might say that it is their opinion but IGN is considered the leading authority in Comic Books and Movies, so it is right to criticize them. There are some very strange inconsistencies with many of their lists for example: the movie Iron Man 2 is not on the list although IGN gave a review score of 4 out of 5 stars, which is much higher than most of the movies on the actual list. There are a few other movies that were omitted that are consider by many to be good movies and they are: X-Men, The Incredible Hulk, Red, and Men in Black. While I have seen around 50 different Comic Book movies, I still have not seen all of the movies on this list, therefore I do not have an opinion of those movies. Also warning some of these movies are rated "R".

The Rocketeer is a good choice for the 25th spot. While it is not a great movie, it is a fun family film. If it was not for The Rocketeer the Joe Johnston would probably not have directed Captain America: The First Avenger. The Rocketeer had a interesting 1940s retro look that was similar to what Captain America: The First Avenger looked like. Except that The Rocketeer had a more cartoon look. While it was not a great it was a decent family film.

 

Like many of the editors at IGN I loved the TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) movie when I has a kid. When I decided to watch for some nostalgia it was almost unbearable to watch! I tried to watch the first half but I could not continue because it was terrible even for a kid's movie. TMNT is in no way better than Iron Man 2 or any of the movies I listed above.

I have not seen this yet.

Blade is very overrated! While it was Marvel's first successful movie, Blade had terrible acting, cheesy dialogue and dumb plot. Most real critics agree that Blade is a bad movie, the only thing that it does have is action. The action scenes are actually really good but that is the only good thing about the movie.

I have not seen this yet.

I mostly agree with the ranking on the list, although it should be a little higher. Superman 2 was the first Comic Book movie sequel and overall it was a good fun movie, despite being corny at times.

1. What is one thing you'd change about Star Wars if you could?

It would actually be not a change but a lack of change during the "Han Shot First" scene in the special editions. Greedo never shot first, Han was the only one to shoot, end of story.

2. What is your favorite kind of car?

Chevy Camaro and Aston Martin.

3. What is your opinion of Black Widow?

Black Widow is great. I have always liked her even before Iron Man 2. She is the ultimate female spy and one of my favorite heroins.

4. Which Avenger do you think you'd make best friends with in real life?
Captain America since he is a nice guy but I probably will end up acting Agent Coulson.

5. Which Avenger do you think would probably not get along well around you?
Maybe Iron Man since "He doesn't play well with others" but I might still get along because I am one of few people who liked him through all of his movies.

6. Do you think you'd enjoy being around Luke and Leia Skywalker in real life?
Not really sure about that. I guess I mostly likely would.

1: Who is your favorite baseball player? Chipper Jones! He has always been my favorite. Unfortunately he is retiring after this season.

2: What are your favorite sports? Baseball! I have been a Baseball since day one but I also watch every football game too.

3: Who is your favorite Jedi? Obi-Wan and Revan.

4: Who is your favorite Doctor Who companion? Amy and Rory, but Amy is my number one favorite. She is funny and really entertaining to watch.

5: What is your least favorite movie?

The worst I have watched the full movie of is The Bobo and To Kill a Mocking Bird.

6: Which Star Wars: The Clone Wars season is your favorite? The recent season 4 was great for the most part, so I will go with that.

Avengers Review and What is to Come.

There really was not much activity on The Avengers review so if you have not read my review please Click here to read my review of The Avengers and tell me what you thought of the movie. But thank you if you were one of the Bloggers who did comment yesterday.

Also this is very important if you plan to go see The Avengers, stay after the credits! There are two after credit scenes, one after the first set of credits and another after the very end of the movie. So be sure to stay until the very end. Also tomorrow I will answer the questions that were asked by you during the interview post. At some point I will post some spoiler filled posts about The Avengers but I do not know how many of you have seen the movie.
