Star Wars: The Force Awakens Will Not have Midi-Chlorians

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will not mention Midi-Chlorians! In the words of C3PO, "Thank the Maker!" If you do not remember, as implied by Qui-Gon Jinn in the clip below, Midi-chlorians were said to be microscopic life forms that allow the use of the Force. However, in the later Expanded Universe books, Midi-chlorians are explained to reside more strongly in those with a strong connection to the Force, although that can also be inferred by what Quin-Gon said in Episode 1.

Midi-chlorians not being mentioned in The Force Awakens makes sense canonically because they were never mentioned in the Original Trilogy. They have absolutely no relevant to the story. Even in the Phantom Menace, Midi-chlorians serve little to no purpose, and they are not even mentioned in the other prequel films, so ultimately, not mentioning them is not a big deal even if you like the concept. Andy Serkis' Role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens Revealed

In a recent interview, Andy Serkis revealed that he will be playing "Supreme Leader Snoke" in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. A picture from Serkis in his motion capture getup has been released as well (picture below). 

Despite the lack of information, the idea of Serkis essentially assuming the role of the Emperor in this new trilogy is brilliant casting. Of course Serkis is going to be fantastic regardless of his role but the idea of a presumably alien leader of the new Empire is interesting. To a degree, this reminds me of the original Emperor from The Empire Strikes Back (picture below) in that the character is mysterious and alien. I am also curious as to what species of alien he will be, unless they create one for the movie.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens Trailer Review/Breakdown

Star Wars: The Force Awakens is looking amazing yet another in this new teaser trailer! Wow, this trailer is giving the feelings that a Star Wars trailer should. Visually, it blends modern filmmaking with a classic feeling and plenty of practical effects, which do you not see in today's films. It is everything that I could have wanted from a teaser trailer, and to top it all off Han Solo and Chewbacca make an appearance at the end! You have no idea how excited I was when they appeared on screen. Harrison Ford still looks great as an older Han, although Chewie’s eyes look a little strange. Below are my screenshots is my trailer breakdown/review screenshots and commentary. Please do not forget to comment below and let me know what you thought of the trailer.

What can be surmised from Luke's speech in the beginning is that the film is going to follow a Skywalker, probably the child of Luke. My guess is that the girl, Rey, played by Daisy Ridley, is Luke's daughter. 

 A destroyed Stardestroyer on the planet Jakku, the recently released name of the planet.

So, did Luke keep Vader's charred helmet or did someone else find it?

 Obviously Luke and R2D2, except Luke's hand is missing its skin.

 A presumably young Leia when she first learned to use a Lightsaber.

Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, a Rebel X-Wing pilot.

Daisy Ridley as Rey ands John Boyega as Finn running from explosion on Jakku.

Keylo Ren, the film's antagonist. His armor reminds me of Revan's from the Knights of the Old Republic, and he has all the makings of a classic cinema villain.

 These new Stormtroopers are a bit strange to me, but I have faith that it is going to work.

Thank you J.J. Abrams! This set appears to be using mostly practical effects and a large set. Anything this large in the Prequels would have used green screen for sure.

 My guess is that this guy is going to be like the new Boba Fett like character.

 Oh yeah! Han and Chewie are back!

Doctor Who Actor in Star Wars

Christina Chong has been cast in a small role in Star Wars: Episode VII. She is best known for a minor role in the Doctor Who episode "A Good Man Goes to War," 24: Live Another Day, and playing Dr Sarah Witney in the TV series Monroe (haven't heard of it before). She is also the female lead of the upcoming Halo: Nightfall TV series. Movie news has been slow recently, so that is about all for today. Sorry everyone if I have not replied to comments lately. If you remember, my arm injury is preventing me from typing very much, or at all some days. Fortunately, I have had enough reviews and other posts for to post during my absence.

Star Wars Ep. 7 Delayed?

Star Wars Episode 7 is reported to be delayed past its set December 2015 release date! A couple of weeks ago Harrison Ford was reported to have injured his ankle. Later reports stated that Ford actually broken leg his leg! Since Han Solo is said to play an important role in the film, Harrison Ford's injury could end up delaying the entire film! Wow, this is terrible news. While nothing is official, according to an article from IGN.com, Ford's recovery could take up to six months! Disney is reportedly adamant about the December release date and writing Ford out of the script is, thankfully, not going to happen. Maybe this delay is going to Force Episode 7 to be released in Star Wars’ usual summer season. Hopefully, Abrams and company will be able to get everything worked without affecting the quality of the film and Ford's health. What are your thoughts on the possible Star Wars delay? Star Wars Casts Nyong'o and Christie

For those disappointed with the lack ladies in the new Star Wars cast, your request has been answers with Lupita Nyong'o and Gwendoline Christie being added to the cast.

Gwendoline Christie

Gwendoline Christie is notable for her role of Brienne of Tarth in Games of Thrones. She will also be playing Commander Lyme in the upcoming Hunger Games: Mockingjay. Having not seen her in any roles myself, I cannot say whether or not she is a good actress. However, from what I have read and what others have said, she should be able to handle an action type role. Maybe she will play a villain of some kind like a Dark Jedi or a bounty hunter.

Lupita Nyong'o

Lupita Nyong'o is another actress that I have yet to see in a role. Considering that she won an Oscar for Twelve Years a Slave, I have no doubt that she can act. She also played a small role in Non-Stop. My initial reaction is that she is a great choice for almost any role, because having an Oscar winning actress in your cast is never a bad thing.  

Overall, I like both casting choices. Again, this Star Wars movie is not going with top-tier stars or ones that are more looks than talent, which is great. So far, so good with Episode VII. Now, we have a talented cast, practical effects, and an excellent director, but, most importantly, the script needs to be great, and we will not know how good that is going to be until we see the movie. Star Wars Set Photos Leaked

Over the past week, there has been a ton of exciting Star Wars set photos leaked! The most exciting set photo is the Millennium Falcon, which you can see below, as well as a lot of photos from the Abu Dhabi set. Obviously, the scenes filmed in Abu Dhabi are going to be Tatooine in the film. Also, there is one of an X-Wing and a large creature. 

If Abrams and company are using practical effects and puppetry for a creature that large, we might be in for a real old school treat!

In response to the numerous set photos that have been leaked, Abrams Tweeted the following picture.

If you cannot read the note, here is what it says: "I wish people would stop leaking photos from Episode VII. And making ridiculous claims that the Millennium Falcon is in the movie." Of course Abrams has a good sense of humor. Fortunately, the sets pictures have not spoiled anything important, but rather have risen my expectations even more that Episode VII could be the generation defining film that the Original Trilogy was.
