Star Wars: The Force Awakens First Impression

Wow, just wow. They did it! They really did it! How did they do it!? Star Wars is back! YAHOO! Watching The Force Awakens is literally the best theater going experience of my life! Okay, time to regain my composure and save my thoughts for the full review tomorrow. But yeah, if you have not seen The Force Awakens, go watch it right now. Just go!

Believe it or not, I managed to avoid every single review, all trailers except the first teaser, and anything about the film, except for the posters. My "Spoiler-phobia" was put to the test, and after more than two weeks of avoiding every film website, I managed to watch The Force Awakens without any knowledge or opinions to weight down my experience. What you are reading right now is being written in the car on the way back home, and until my review is finished, I do not plan to read any reviews (however, by the time you are reading this, I probably have finished my first draft and have seen other reviews).
Lastly, the theatrical experience was rather excellent this time. Granted, my focus on the silver screen has never been quite this strong in the past, so I probably not have noticed if an elephant walk into the theater. My only mild complaint is that the 3D was not particularly special, although the IMAX video and audio quality was superb, so it was worth it for sure. When the film eventually comes to the local theater after the four week mandated by Disney (read more here), I will most definitely see it again, which will be followed by a spoiler review or podcast.

Also, usual, if you have reviewed Star Wars: The Force Awakens, please let me know in the comments. A link to the review would be great too, so that I and others can also see your review. And please check back tomorrow for my review of Star Wars: The Force Awakens!
Me on the way home from the theater.

  1. I reviewed a few weeks back. I liked it a lot but it was as much remake (Luke's a girl, Han is now Obi-wan) as continuation. Loved the flight of the Falcon across Jakka and we demand more Oscar Issac next time!!

  2. Oh boy, you probably won't be happy with my review haha. I thought it was alright. Nice seeing the franchise return but I was hoping for something a bit more 'original' in a sense. I might have been a bit too harsh after initially watching it, but I was certainly disappointed, no doubt about that! But the new characters are worthy!

  3. The IMAX was worth it, huh? I saw it first in 2D, then 3D, and now we want to see it in IMAX, though we've never done that before. But if any movie would be worth it, I guess it'd be Star Wars!

You sound so excited, I can't wait to see what you have to say!

  4. Sorry, but I, after two viewings, was not impressed. I liked it fine, but there's a reason I refer to it as "Star Wars: The Remix".

You finally saw it! I cannot believe how much I enjoyed star wars when I left the theater the only thing going though my head was "I have got to see this again" and then I fainted...
JKJKJK no but still it was amazing I wish I could have seen it in Imax but instead I had to see it in a cheap "lie-MAX" style presentation (and I mean the other kina cheap cause my ticket was not cheap at all :p) but it was still much better than regular cinema and escaping jakku was the best scene ever!!!!!
