2013 Movie Preview Part 3.

Here is the final part of my 2013 Movie Preview featuring films from July to the end of the year. If everything works correctly the Q & A will be uploaded and posted tomorrow. So please be sure to check it out and comment.
July

The Lone Ranger

After this recent trailer I am excited to what the creators of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise has in store for the Lone Ranger. Disney really needs another Cruse of the Black Pear type movie since the Pirates sequels have been less than stellar and with Johnny Depp playing the Lone Ranger's sidekick Tonto it should have great action and humor.

Pacific Rim

Monster, giant robots, and Guillermo Del Toro, I'm game. Pacific Rim's trailer looks awesome, it could be a good smart version of Transformers. But what makes me more excited is that GLaDOS (voiced by Ellen McLain) from the Portal video games, who's voice is in the trailer. Although she will not be playing the character GLaDOS, the film uses the exact same sounding voice.

The Wolverine
After Wolverine's previous X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie turned out to be an awful excuse for a film. Completely ruining characters and destroying continuity. Since The Wolverine is surprisingly set after the X-Men 3: The Last Stand and will be set in Japan. Taking the concept from his journey through Japan is a great

R.I.P.D
There is not much information about R.I.P.D other than it is based on a comic book and star Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges. Here is the plot summery. "A recently slain young cop joins a team of undead police officers working for the Rest In Peace Department and tries to find the man who murdered him."

August

300: Rise of An Empire
300: Rise of An Empire is the prequel to Zack Snyder's overrated stylish dumb action movie. The first one had some great action yet it completely lacked story, acting, logic, and anything that made sense. After last year's mediocre "Immortals", I am not expecting great things.

Red 2
The first Red was an underrated action comedy based on a comic book of the same. It appears that Bruce Willis will not be returning to the film, however I am looking forward to seeing Red 2.

September

Star Wars: Episode II: Attack of the Clones 3D
The next 3D Star Wars movie to be re-released in 3D. Although I have no intention of seeing it in theaters due to the ridiculous pricing, I hope it will do good enough to have the Original Trilogy released in 3D.

October

Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith 3D
Finally, we are getting to the really good Star Wars movies. Again, I doubt that I will be seeing it in theaters, but the action scenes in Revenge of the Sith are far above the prequels and should provide some good 3D.

November

Ender's Game
Ender's Game is based on a popular young-adult novel staring Harrison Ford, Ben Kingsley and Asa Butterfield. Considering the film's top notch cast, Ender's Game could be what the Hunger Games should have been. I do not know much about Ender's Game beyond that, has anyone read the books?

Thor: The Dark Worlds
After the next The Desolation of Smaug, Thor: The Dark World is my most anticipated of this year. The early set pictures look great and it appears that it will have a darker, more Lord of the Rings tone. Hopefully a trailer will be release soon. Definitely going to watch this in theaters next year.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire
The first Hunger Games mostly appealed to those who read the book, and the female audience. Hopefully with the new director, it might actually have some decent camera work and not an over use of shaky-cam. From what I know of Catching Fire, it will feature former competitors of the Hunger Games returning for another Hunger Games, which means that there will not be any kids thus should be able to show action like any other movie. Also the acting should be better.

December

Jack Ryan
Jack Ryan is the main character in the Tom Clancy book series, who was played by Alec Baldwin in the Hunt for Red October, Harrison Ford in Patriot Games and Clear and Present Danger and by Ben Affleck in The Sum of All Fears. I have seen the Hunt for Red October and Patriot Games, which were good movies and Chris Pine should do well in the role. There is little know about the movie at this time but I am will update about it.

The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug
Last but certinly not least, The Desolation of Smaug is the second chapter in Peter Jackson's epic Hobbit trilogy. Hands-down my most anticipated film of 2013, the Hobbit sequel will feature Mirkwood Forest and obviously Smaug. Although I try not to know much about the book because of spoilers, I am not sure how they will battle Smaug in the second movie when there is still a third part of the trilogy. According to the casting list Andy Serkis is said to be in the film, which would mean Gollum will be in the film again or it is just misinformation.

2013 Movie Preview Part 2.

Here is part 2 of my 2013 film preview. Before I continue with the preview, I wanted to say that I finished film the Q and A video answering your questions Sunday and might have the video up as soon as Thursday.
April
42 Jackie Robinson

42 is about Jackie Robinson the first baseball player to break the color in a major sport. I love baseball, particularly baseball history with the exception of the music used in the trailer above I think it is a great trailer. Finally a high quality baseball film based around real fact, plus Harrison Ford looks a lot like Dodgers own Branch Ricky.

Oblivion

Not sure what to think about the trailer, but with Tom Cruise and Morgan Freeman it could actually be a decent movie. It is one of the few movies were the movie producers wrote a comic book before the film was released to set it up. Interesting concept but considering the low sells on the first issue, it probably will not work effectively.

May

Iron Man 3

Finally, a movie that I am truly looking forward to seeing. Featuring one of the best trailers in recent memory and based on one of Iron Man's best comic book runs should be the film of the Summer. It is also the first in Marvel's phase two after The Avengers. This is the first film on this preview list that I will definitely be watching it in theaters.

Star Trek: Into Darkness

In 2009 J.J. Abrams made a fun, more action heavy reboot of the Star Trek franchise, which I recommend, Into Darkness is his long awaited sequel with the always awesome Benedict Cumberbatch. Cumberbatch is the star of BBC's Sherlock mini-series and he should be an excellent villain in the up-coming film. Outside of the Hobbit and comic book based movies, I am looking forward to this the most.

June

Man of Steel

The trailer looks promising but Zack Snyder previous movies, Watchmen and 300, were more style than substance and relied on the popularity of Watchmen's source material rather than anything new. Kevin Costner appears to be perfectly casted in the role of "Pa" Kent. Maybe we will finally get the Superman Vs. General Zod smack-down we have been waiting for with today's current technology. Expect more opinions and posts about the Man of Steel closer to its release.

World War Z

World War Z is another movie that was delayed and required some re-shooting. I hate zombie movies, I just do not get the fascination with shows like "The Walking Dead", however World War Z looks like a decent action thriller, probably worth a rent.

Monsters University

As I have said previously stated I do not find Pixar's humor very funny, but many of my readers do have an interested in the franchise. The original Monsters Inc. was one of the first DVDs that I have owned because it came packaged with the DVD player so I did watch it about 5 years ago.

End of the World
End of the World stars Emma Watson, James Franco, Jonah Hill and Seth Rogan as themselves. There is little information about the film but it is a post-apocalyptic comedy with the actors playing themselves as the world ends. Providing it is not premeditated with constant swearing, it could be an hilarious movie.

2013 Movie Preview Part 1.

While it will be difficult to top last year's line-up of films, 2013 is sure to have solid films and hopefully some great ones. Here part 1 of a preview featuring films that I have some interest in order of when they are going to be released. While I have a general rule not to judge a movie by its trailer or even watch trailers, that is the only way a film can be judged until it is released.

January

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters

Never have had an interest in the original story but Jeremy Renner is great and it could have some good action. However, it appears that it will be mediocre at best, probably will be full of cliches and corny effect.

February

A Good Day to Die Hard (5)

Although every other Die Hard sequel has been sub-par and completely over-the-top, maybe A Good Day to Die Hard can break that trend. Either way, it is sure to have awesome action scenes and Bruce Willis doing what he does best. Also be sure to look for some Die Hard reviews leading up to the release of the film.

March

Oz: The Great and Powerful

I have not actually seen the Wizard of Oz movie, however I have seen the mini series "Tin Man", which was entertaining. Considering that it is directed by Sam Raimi, who directed the original Spider-Man trilogy, it should be fun. The trailer makes me interested to watch the original Oz movie. Also the choice to obviously film the beginning of the movie in black and white like the original Oz is a bold idea.

G.I. Joe: Retaliation

Originally G.I. Joe Retaliation was set to be released last year, after the decision to post-convert it to 3D and re-film some of the movie from the audience reaction in the screenings last year. At least they are trying to make a decent movie, it will be difficult to top the terribleness of the first G.I. Joe movie. Sure this is going to be a dumb action movie, maybe it can at least be a fun dumb action movie.

Jack the Giant Slayer

The facts that Ewan McGregor will be in the movie and X-Men director by Bryan Singer seems like a good combo but this looks excruciatingly corny, similar to the awful Three Musketeers movie. However, it could be a decent movie, you never know.

April

Jurassic Park 3D
Yet another 3D re-release, this time of Steve Spielberg's classic groundbreaking action thriller Jurassic Park. I still do not understand why people want to watch old movies in 3-D when you could buy it on DVD/Blu-Ray for the same price as the theater ticket. Unless it is your favorite movie ever made, like Empire Strikes Back. I wouldn't even consider watching the Lord of the Rings in 3-D since I have already seen in theaters when they were originally released.

What are your thoughts on the up-coming movies in 2013? Please comment below and check back tomorrow part 2. Also an update on the video Q&A, we filmed it yesterday and all we need know is a lot of editing.
