New Clone Wars Clip and Cancellation!?

Breaking new! The Clone Wars has been cancelled!? But there is A New Hope, The Clone Wars will continue is some form, most likely as a direct-toDVD/Blu-Ray, TV movie or even theatrically. Another bit of good new is that another TV series not is based on a time-period not previously covered in the movie, but it has not been confirmed whether it will be live-action (Star Wars: Underworld) or animated. Nothing has been officially confirmed, except The Clone Wars is cancelled, however cannot believe that my favorite animated TV series ever made has come to an end without a proper finale. Does this mean that "The Wrong Jedi" was the last time we will see Ahsoka? She will probably make an appearance in the new Clone Wars movie but it is an interesting thought. Obviously what comes next will lead into "Order 66" and the clip below only enforces that theory. Preferably, a Clone Wars TV movie would be broadcast on ABC since Disney, which owns ABC, now owns Star Wars. As a long line fan of the series since its beginning, I am very sad to see it go when there was so much more that they could still do. It was enviable but still disappointing. While The Clone Wars had a four episode drop in quality and the fact that Cartoon Network aired the series during the morning, opposed to its previous Friday night time-slot. Because of this, The Clone Wars has lost many fans, many of whom never regained watched the series again. Due to this breaking news, my "Funny Pictures" post has been postponed to Friday but part 1 of my Skyfall review will be posted tomorrow. Below is a new of the new clip and an announcement by David Filoni, the Supervising Director of The Clone Wars.
On a side note, the animated Comedy series "Star Wars: Detours" has been postponed as well and has not been given a release date.

Now, a question for any remaining Clone Wars fans: Do you want to see a list my favorite episodes from the series? If I can reach four votes, I will try and write a post sometime later this month or next month.

  1. I thought there was season six before it was cancelled... that's what Dave said :/

  2. The new show is defintely animated, not live-action. It is likely (IMO) to be in the time period after Return of the Jedi and before Episode VII which will lead into the new Star Wars film. This will do well due to the anticipation of the new film and that it can be marketed as such.

Because the show is now into 3/4 episode arcs, this makes TV movies/Blu-ray releases very likely. I doubt theatrically.

The series didn't really lose many fans due to the timeslot change, after all its main audience was young children, the adult viewers probably DVR'd it or watched it online. The decision, like the delays of the video game 1313, Detours and the 3D re-releases are obviously part of Disney's wider decision to either save money or concentrate solely on Episode VII.

It is a sad decision, and I hope that all the unaired episodes are shown someday and not kept hidden, but it does seem like that won't happen.

I'd like to see your favourite Clone Wars episodes, and if not, your rankings of Season 5 episodes (like you did S4), but I think I can suspect which ones will be down the bottom.

  3. That's a real shame. I read it this morning and knew a lot of fans would be letdown. I'll have to set aside a few weekends to watch the whole thing from start to finish at some point.

  4. At first I thought I heard they were going to do one more season, but I guess the news was changed or written down wrong. Hopefully they will be able to bring closure to the series- I'd always thought it would end after the sixth season, but it's sad they cancelled it instead of letting it actually come to a close. Maybe they'll, like you said, make a film to end it(like they did with Firefly).
And I'm sad that they postponed Star Wars: Detours, I was looking forward to that.

  6. Shame. Axing it before giving it a proper closure. Just like LEGACY. What?! No season 6? What about the Clovis arc?

  7. @Solace Utara: I know right? Disney pulled the plugged on the series early. :/

Anonymous: Well, I heard two conflicting reports on but it most likely will be animated. I agree that time period would make the most sense considering the up-coming films.

I also agree about it being TV movies or Blu-Rays, rather than theatrically released.

Actually, I know a few people who stopped watching because of the time, since the internet release was also later. I agree about Disney as well, they want to limit anything that could happen with the franchise until they decide what Ep. VII will be about.
I will start working on the list soon.

@Daniel: While a few early episodes are more towards the "kiddie" side, but overall the series has some of the best Star Wars story lines. Hope you enjoy.

@Shena Tokala: Disney did a very similar thing to the Spectacular Spider-Man series but never gave it a proper ending.
I was too, it looked hilarious!

@Covert Knight: Disney does it again. I thought about that too, it was revealed in the trailer so I would expect it will be in a released story arc.
