Yes, making violins is not a profession that is usually shown. Most of the time, it is a violinist or an other type of instrument. That's cool that you also listened to the song when you were growing up! :) "The Cat Returns" is on my watchlist. I know what it is about for the part.

-JamesJames the Reviewerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00165238905288033483noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1385233731099220276.post-86690746658908922332014-06-12T22:29:28.464-04:002014-06-12T22:29:28.464-04:00Wow, that's great! And I am glad that you enjoyed it. :D
Interesting, I live and grew up in the country so I never did that. lol :) Good point about the other conflicts not being resolved though. I guess I missed that since I was so caught up with the main story. I think I will enjoy it at least to some degree! :D

~JamieJamiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17203554335912426375noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1385233731099220276.post-90265066216283716642014-06-12T12:32:50.036-04:002014-06-12T12:32:50.036-04:00Great review! :) I agree, this movie is definitely...Great review! :) I agree, this movie is definitely one of Ghibli's best works and is also one of my favorites. As a writer, I really related to Shizuku, and she seemed very realistic as a young writer(the part where she gave her work for someone to read, and was really nervous, was something I especially related to since I've been there quite a few times). I also liked the main guy character and how he wanted to be a violin maker, since that is a profession not normally shown in fiction; the shopkeeper was another one of my favorites. And like you, I enjoyed the use of "Country Roads", since I also listened to that song a lot growing up. If you haven't seen it yet, I'd recommend the movie "The Cat Returns", since it is related to this movie(since it has the baron and the cat in it) and it also one of my favorites(though it is very different in tone than Whispers of the Heart). I related to a lot of it. It reminded me of my childhood because I would search for any bit of nature I could find in the hopes of having an adventure despite living in a city. The way Shizuku imagines going on adventures made me think of when I was a kid. I also related to her as a writer, and how scared she was when she gave her story to someone to read for the first time. The music was really lovely as well. The romance was adorable and the ending was very sweet. The only thing that really bothered me was how the conflict with the other characters was not resolved, like her friend who liked the guy that liked her (kind of complicated sounding XD) But overall it was very well done.Banríon An Gheimhridhhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09898509697858420592noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1385233731099220276.post-7285026731099479952014-06-12T09:14:56.546-04:002014-06-12T09:14:56.546-04:00Quite an intriguing review.
