News on The Hobbit.

Here is another article from IGN.com is it about the prequel to The Lord of the Rings called the Hobbit.

New Line Cinema, Warner Bros. Pictures and MGM have announced the titles and release dates for filmmaker Peter Jackson's two-film adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkien's enduringly popular masterpiece The Hobbit. The first film, titled The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, will be released on December 14, 2012. The second film, titled The Hobbit: There and Back Again, is slated for release the following year, on December 13, 2013.

Both films are set in Middle-earth 60 years before Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings," which Jackson and his filmmaking team brought to the big screen in the blockbuster trilogy that culminated with the Oscar-winning The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. The adventure of The Hobbit follows the journey of title character Bilbo Baggins, who is swept into an epic quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from the fearsome dragon Smaug.

Under Jackson's direction, both movies are being shot consecutively in digital 3D using the latest camera and stereo technology. Filming is taking place at Stone Street Studios, Wellington, and on location around New Zealand.

Ian McKellen returns as Gandalf the Grey, the character he played in The Lord of the Rings trilogy, and Martin Freeman, who just won a BAFTA TV Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role in the BBC series Sherlock, takes on the central role of Bilbo Baggins. Also reprising their roles from The Lord of the Rings movies are: Cate Blanchett as Galadriel; Orlando Bloom as Legolas; Ian Holm as the elder Bilbo; Christopher Lee as Saruman; Hugo Weaving as Elrond; Elijah Wood as Frodo; and Andy Serkis as Gollum. The ensemble cast also includes (in alphabetical order) Richard Armitage, Jed Brophy, Adam Brown, John Callen, Stephen Fry, Ryan Gage, Mark Hadlow, Peter Hambleton, Stephen Hunter, William Kircher, Sylvester McCoy, Bret McKenzie, Graham McTavish, Mike Mizrahi, James Nesbitt, Dean O'Gorman, Lee Pace, Mikael Persbrandt, Conan Stevens, Ken Stott, Jeffrey Thomas, and Aidan Turner.

The screenplays for The Hobbit films are by Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens, Guillermo del Toro and Peter Jackson. Jackson is also producing the films, together with Fran Walsh and Carolynne Cunningham. The executive producers are Ken Kamins and Zane Weiner, with Philippa Boyens serving as co-producer.

The Hobbit films are productions of New Line Cinema and MGM, with New Line managing production. Warner Bros Pictures is handling worldwide theatrical distribution, with select international territories as well as all international television licensing being handled by MGM.

Star Wars Top 30 Characters.

We are ranking the characters by importance and how munch we like the character.

At number 30: Cad Bane
Quote  "Well, hello there little lady"
Cand Bane was the first new major villain to be introduced on The Clone Wars, he made an incredible first impression. Here was a guy who fearlessly led a small group into the Republic Senate, with a perfectly executed, ruthless plan that saw him and his team kill any and all who stood in their way - including a Senate Guard who Bane killed by snapping his neck.

At number 29 Padme Amidala
Quote "I call it aggressive negotiations"
The wife of Anakin Skywalker and the mother of two of the most important people the Star Wars universe.
At number 28 Wedge Antilles
Quote: "Look at the size of that thing!"
Wedge distinction of being the only Rebel pilot to survive both Death Star attacks.

At number 27: Mara Jade Skywalker
Quote: "Yeah, it's true. Now tell me who blabbed so I can go cut his head off."

Mara Jade entered the Expanded Universe early, and she's stuck around for so long because she's just a great character.

At number 26 Grand Admiral Thrawn
Quote: "I have no qualms about accepting a useful idea merely because it wasn't my own."

Grand Admiral Thrawn is one of the first popular Expanded Universe characters and he is a brilliant commander and tactician.

At number 25: Captain Rex
Quote: "In my book, experience out ranks everything"

Rex is Anakin Skywalker's right-hand man, always there to help his Jedi general, who he's also become a good friend to. Rex is an excellent asset in a fight, and many action scenes on The Clone Wars have shown him to be one of the best and most skilled Clone Troopers - easily able to improvise and adapt, which allows him to get the better of his enemies.

At number 24: Starkiller/Galen Marek/The Apprentice
Quote: "I bring Darth Vader's enemies to justice. And now, so do you."

Galen Marek better known by his code name Starkiller  is one of the most important characters in the Star Wars universe, and his journey starts in the 2008 videogame Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. The Force Unleashed's storyline is considered canon, and as such we have Marek to thank for the creation of the Alliance to Restore the Republic (the Rebel Alliance) - which we cheered on in the original Star Wars film trilogy. Originally orphaned, raised and then trained by Darth Vader as Vader's Secret Apprentice, Marek would go on to turn his back on the dark side. Making enemies of Vader and the Emperor, Marek fought to the death defending key members of the Rebel Alliance. He aslo is one the most power Jedi ever look what he did to Darth Vader. Starkiller has also kill many great Jedi including Master Shaak Ti and many others and in a alternate ending Starkiller kills Darth Vader and becomes The Emperor's apprentice and then he turns Luke to the darkside kills Leia, Han and Chewie.

At number 23: Bastlia Shan

Quote: "I'm Bastila Shan, a member of the Jedi Order and a fleet commander for the Republic. Nobody 'owns' me!"

Bastlia is easily one of the coolest female jedi ever and is one the few Jedi to master the art of Battle Meditation a technique that could affect the outcome of a large scale battle by thought alone. Only Master Yoda and a handful of others, centuries later, would be able to fully comprehend and master this skill's true potential.
Here is a awesome video (Bastlia is the one with the blue double bladed lightsaber you can't miss her)

At number 22: Count Dooku
Quote: " Brave, but, foolish, my old Jedi friend. You are impossibly outnumbered."

If you can survive a duel with Yoda, Obi-Wan, and Anakin you have to make it on the list.

At number 21: Jango Fett
Quote: "I'm just a simple man, trying to make my way in the universe."

Jango Fett is a guy who can take on Obi-Wan Kenobi himself in a fight and escape unscathed, thanks to his skills with the multitude of impressive weapons on his awesome Mandalorian armor, including a jetpack that comes equipped with a rocket launcher.

At Number 20: Mace Windu

Quote: "This party's over"

Mace Windu is the only guy who can make a purple Lightsaber look cool plus he is played by Samuel L. Jackson.

At number 19: Canderous Ordo

Quote: "I'm here if you want something done right."

4000 thousand Before Jango or Boba Fett were even born Canderous Ordo was known as the toughest Mandalorian in the galaxy back in the days of the Old Republic. In his time, he was considered one of the most formidable warriors to fight in the Mandalorian Wars. After many years serving in battle, Canderous would later serve under the redeemed Master Revan and his crew aboard the Ebon Hawk.
At Number 18:Jabba the Hut

Quote: "This bounty hunter is my kind of scum. Fearless and inventive"

How did a giant slug become the most power crime lord in the galaxy we don't know but if didn't put him on this list he will feed us to the Rancor.

At number 17: Lando Calrissian
Quote: "Why, you slimy, double-crossing, no-good swindler."

From the first moment we meet the Lando with the sky-blue cape on Cloud City, we see that he has a way with the ladies and a Billy Dee sense of humor. Although we were made to believe that he was a sellout, Lando more than made up for turning Han Solo over to the Empire by breaking him out of Jabba's Palace, and then helping the Republic to destroy the second Death Star.

At number 16: HK-47

Quotes: Retraction: Did I say that out loud? I apologize, master. While you are a meatbag, I suppose I should not call you such.",
"As a meatbag would say: 'I have a bad feeling about this.'",
"You hear that, meatbag? I will be back!"

What red-blooded Sith wouldn't want a droid that exclaims "...You will find me a valuable asset, Master, willing and able to terminate anything you point me towards"? We know that we would love to have a homicidal assassin droid to do our bidding, and in Knights of the Old Republic 1 & 2, we were given the chance to put this human-hating bot to work. As you can probably tell by his quotes he  refers to all humans as "meatbags"

At number 15: Qui-Gon Jinn
Quote: "That is the sound of a thousand terrible thing heading this way"
Qui-Gon Jinn appeared for only one movie, and yet he stands out as one of the most memorable original characters from the prequels. In a club of stuffy, do-gooder Jedi, Qui-Gon was one of the few who dared venture outside the narrow path and view the galaxy in something other than strict black and white terms.

At Number 14: Darth Malak
Quote: "This is but a taste of the dark side to whet your appetite!"

If any other Sith Lord was deemed worthy to have "The Imperial March" precede his entrances, Darth Malak is certainly a top contender.  As one of the most feared force-wielders in the Old Republic, Malak gained notoriety and fame early on in the gaming community for his menacing appearance and trademark prosthetic jawline as he was featured in many of the promotional images from the Knights of the Old Republic videogame. Do you want to know what a Lightsaber jaw feels like just ask Malak.

At Number 13: Dath Maul

Quote: "I've killed your master and now it is your turn to die, young Jedi!"

Darth Maul may have been in only one movie but he sure has left a lasting impressionism.

At Number 12: Emperor Palpatine

Quote: " I have forseen it"

In terms of sheer villainy no figure in the Star Wars universe is greater or more terrible than Emperor Palpatine. He plunged the galaxy into war and reigned over an Empire that lasted for decades. Many Sith have lusted for power, but most have a reach that far exceeds their grasp. Not so with Palpatine. When he can't grasp something, he just electrocutes it into submission.

At Number11: C3PO

Quotes: "Oh dear.", "How rude!", "We're doomed!"

C-3PO enjoys the distinction of being one of the few characters to appear in all six movies, to say nothing of his many Expanded Universe appearances. His life of service actually dates back further than Episode I, even. C-3PO was originally constructed in the Cybot Galactica plant some 80 years prior. However, it was his first master Anakin Skywalker who rebuilt C-3PO and molded him into the droid we all know and love.

At Number 10: Princess Leia
Quotes: "Why, you stuck up, half-witted, scruffy-looking Nerf herder."
 , ""Aren't you a little short for a stormtrooper?",
" I'd Just as Soon Kiss a Wookie!",
"Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi; you're my only hope."

Did you really think that we wouldn't have the coolest Princess ever in our top 10. Leia also said two of the best Star Wars quotes ever Why, you stuck up, half-witted, scruffy-looking Nerf herder." and  I'd Just as Soon Kiss a Wookie!"

At Number 9: Darth Revan
Qutoes: "I am Darth Revan, Dark Lord of the Sith.",
"The Dark Lord Revan is dead. I am a servant of the light now."

If you have played Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic you know why Darth Revan is on this list but if you have not go buy the game right now it is the best Star Wars game and one of the best video games ever.

At Number 8: Chewbacca
Quote: "Arrrgh"

You're crazy if you thought everyone's favorite Wookiee wouldn't make the Top 10. This walking carpet giant is the textbook definition of a hero, with the right balance of power, honor and a streak of loyalty a parsec wide. All this, and a awesome bowcaster to back it up.

At Number 7: Boba Fett

Quotes: "Put Captain Solo in the cargo hold.",
"What if he doesn't survive? He's worth a lot to me.",
"He's no good to me dead."
Boba Fett has the second best costume the coolest gadgets and an awesome jetpack why did he have to die.

At Number 6: R2-D2
Quote: "beep beep"

Perhaps no character is as synonymous with Star Wars as the plucky droid, R2-D2.
For starters, he's been in all 6 movies, not to mention three of the four animated series. R2 also appeared in nearly every game, book, and comic to take place after Episode I. R2-D2 is everywhere, and we wouldn't want it any other way.

At Number 5: Luke Skywalker
Quotes: "It just isn't fair",
"I'm Luke Skywalker. I'm here to rescue you.",
"Noooo Noooooo!" ,
"I am a Jedi, like my father before me."

Luke may wine (alot) but ultimately he is a hero and a true Jedi.

At Number 4: Yoda
Quotes: "Looking? Found someone you have I would say, mm?",
"No! Try not. Do, or do not. There is no try.",
"Wars not make one great.",
"That is why you fail.",
"Hmm. Control, control. You must learn control."

When we hear the phrase "Jedi Master," Yoda's name is always the one that springs to mind. No other Jedi so completely encapsulates what it means to be a Master. His skills were unrivaled among the Order. Despite his short stature, he could swing a lightsaber like no one's business.

At Number 3: Obi-Wan Kenobi
Quotes(Alec Guinness) "Obi-Wan Kenobi...Obi-Wan...Now, that's a name I've not heard in a long time...a long time.",
"A more elegant weapon from a more civilized age.",
/'Mos Eisley Spaceport. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious."
"These aren't the droids you're looking for.",
 "That's no moon. It's a space station.",
"You can't win, Darth. If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you could possibly imagine."
"The Force will be with you. Always.",
Quotes(Ewan McGregor): "I don't mind flying, but what you're doing is suicide!"
"So uncivilized..."

"It's over, Anakin! I have the high ground!"
"You were the Chosen One! It was said that you would destroy the Sith, not join them! Bring balance to the Force, not leave it in darkness!"

Quotes: (James Arnold Taylor): There's a good chance we're about to destroy all life on this planet, including the Senator's, so, yes. I'm on edge. Why aren't you?"

Obi-Wan Kenobi was one of the greatest fighters and diplomats the Order had to offer during the Clone Wars. His calm demeanor and natural empathy garnered him the nickname "The Negotiator". Even when fate took a cruel turn, Kenobi remained kind and benevolent to the end .
For a General and a diplomat, it's hard to pick just one instance where Obi-Wan's heroism shined through the most. We're going to go with his sacrifice on the Death Star.
From the moment he entered the space station, Obi-Wan knew he would never make it out alive. His every action from that point on centered around stalling Vader and allowing his new friends time to escape. Obi-Wan willingly let himself be cut down so that he could take on an even greater role in the fate of the galaxy, helping guide a young Luke along his way to Jedi mastery.

At Number 2: Han Solo

Quotes:"Han Solo. I'm captain of the Millennium Falcon. Chewie here tells me you're looking for passage to the Alderaan system."
"Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid."
"Get in there you big furry oaf, I don't care what you smell!"
"I've got a bad feeling about this."
"Great, kid; don't get cocky."
"And I thought they smelled bad…on the outside."
"Laugh it up, fuzzball."
"Who's scruffy looking?"
"Never tell me the odds!

Check. King of turning tauntauns into sleeping bags? Check. The character every fan wants to be? Check and mate!

From shooting Greedo first to surviving the Carbonite freezing process, Han Solo has long been many fans' favorite Star Wars character. Lucas himself has said he was a bit surprised that everyone wanted to be Han and not Luke - which when you think about it isn't that surprising. Luke had the power, but Han was the one that every young boy in America wanted to grow up to be.
This scruffy-looking nerf herder is the ultimate scoundrel in the Star Wars universe. H

"I'm out of it for a little while and everybody gets delusions of grandeur."

A Number 1: Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker

Quotes(Darth Vader): "I find your lack of faith disturbing."

"I sense something; a presence I've not felt since..."

"I have you now!"

"All too easy."

"If you only knew the power of the dark side. Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your father."

"No. I am your father."

"Search your feelings. You know it to be true."

"Yes, my master."

Quotes(Anakin Skywalker):
"I killed them. I killed them all. They're dead, every single one of them. And not just the men... but the women, and the children too. They're like animals! And I slaughtered them like animals! I hate them!"

"Don't make me kill you!"

"If you're not with me, then you're my enemy!"

"This is the end for you, my master."

Did you seriously think we were going to pick anyone else? Coolest costume ever? Check. Best villain ever? Check. Best character to ever be in movie? Check. Best Star Wars character ever? Check and mate!

His tragic fall and ultimate redemption make him the most fascinating character in the entire saga. In fact, when one watches all six films, it becomes apparent that the series is more about Vader's redemption than Luke's ascension.

That is it for our list please comment.

Live Action Star Wars TV show and Star Wars Cartoon Comedy.

Here is an article from IGN.com about the a possible live action Star Wars TV show.

Last year, George Lucas said the long-discussed Star Wars Live-Action series was on hold, stating that the difficulty was in making the series for a reasonable price. This week, in a new interview with Attack of the Show, Lucas was asked about the status of the series, and replied, "It sits on the shelf. We have 50 hours [written], and we're just waiting to figure out a different way of making movies – a different technology that we can use that will make it economically feasible to shoot the show. Right now, it looks like the Star Wars features, but we have to figure out a way of making it for about a tenth the cost of the features, because it's television. And we're working toward that and we're continuing to work toward that and we will get there at some point."

It's not clear what Lucas is referring to when he talks about a "different way of making movies" exactly – new, affordable special FX techniques? More realistic digital sets? But the Star Wars creator does go on to say, "It's just a very difficult process and obviously, when we do sort of figure this problem out, it will dramatically affect a lot of movies, because a lot of movies, features now, that are costing 150, 200 million dollars, we'll suddenly be able to make them for 50 or 60 million dollars."

Lucas said some similar things about the challenges of making a live-action Star Wars series when I interviewed him last September, but was confident it would happen eventually, as you can see below.
